The single best album ever produced?,
By
This review is from: Lost at Sea (Audio CD)
I don't know what it is. I can't quite put my finger on it. Something about this album has completely stolen my heart - I can't get enough of it. I didn't think I could ever love an album any more than I love Radiohead's "Amnesiac", or Weezer's "Pinkerton", or Frank Black's "Dog in the Sand". However, "Lost at Sea" completely takes the cake. The songs are perfect. The performance is perfect, the production is perfect. The melodies that permeate this beautiful beautiful album are heart-wrenching, life-changing, and inspiring. The genius of Ted Bond should be considered one of America's national treasures, and I am completely serious. Craig's Brother has completely taken my breath away - I can't get enough. It has been more than a year and still I prefer this single masterpiece to any of the hundreds in my collection. The most amazing part is that every time I listen, I notice something new, and every time I listen, I appreciate the record more and more. It will never grow old. It is always growing on me and it is my all-time favorite possesion of all time. Pure genius. This is not a punk rock record (not that there's anything wrong with punk rock), but rather, this is a rock record. This is what Rock and Roll is all about. Unique, amazing, energetic, and magical. Honestly, I think that this is the most important album since Abbey Road...

So, so good,
This review is from: Lost at Sea (Audio CD)
I picked up three albums a while ago and sorta expected this one to be my least favourite. However the other two (and all my other albums for that matter) haven't been getting much airtime since -- you just can't get sick of this amazing album. I bought it after having heard "Back and Forth" which is an amazing song (how many punk/emo bands use a full orchestra?) with very relevant lyrics. This isn't the only brilliant song though. "Glory" has truly thoughtful lyrics about war. "And the bombs start falling / tight fists of rage hurled searching for sanity in such a crazy world" - I also love the soaring riff in this song and the marching-drum bridge. "Lost At Sea" is a seven-minute epic with a truly memorable lyric and harmony. Although all the songs are great (no filler here) several others stand out - "Lullaby", "Masonic", and "Falling Out".I haven't heard Craig's Brother's first album, Homecoming, but I don't think it could be better than this. Buy this if you are into punk, alternative, or emo at all...it's a crying shame the band broke up...

Check 'em out!,

Craig's Brother was one of the best new bands I've heard on the music scene in years. The second of two albums, (three counting the demo tape,) Lost at Sea shows the band's growth since their last album. No longer as deeply entrentched in their "punk" roots, their sound has developed a more "emo" feel. Now you can detect threads of not only punk, but old 80's punk, with the occassional splash of prog rock riffs. These guys had more melody than half the bands out there. Clean sound, clean lyrics. Almost poetic themes. A band you won't be ashamed to let your parents hear. I highly recommend them. Unfortunately, Craig's Brother recently broke up. This one will be a highlight in your music collection! And if you're goin through CB withdrawls, I recommend you check out Something Corporate's album Leaving Through the Window!
