I preordered at the tail end of August, when it said to choose two day shipping for RDD. Then I received the same sort of e-mail, that my delivery date was no longer the release date. (Because "the release date has been changed" according to the email, but it... hasn't?... The arrival is still /after/ the date listed.) I haven't contacted anyone from Amazon yet, but the gist of the e-mail was the standard "you can refuse it when it's delivered, or have it refunded to you". Right now it's just a two day delay for me, so it's not a problem for me unless it gets pushed back even farther.
I was thinking that either they're flooded with a lot of orders and we're experiencing the repercussions of that (it flew to the top of Amazon's bestseller list when it first appeared, after all), but on the official Hyrule Historia website, there's this:
http://www.hyrulehistoria.com/purchase/ "Currently, Amazon is giving a 40% discount, bringing the cost of the book down to $20.99USD plus shipping. The catch is that you won't receive the item until February 3rd-5th."
I knew this before I preordered from Amazon, but the RDD really got me excited. ;< Guess it was too good to be true?
And... I actually got another e-mail from Amazon today! It looks like I got my RDD back! The e-mail they sent said they "received new release date information" and that my "item(s) will actually ship sooner than we originally expected based on the new release date":
Shigeru Miyamoto, et al "The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Previous estimated arrival date: January 31, 2013 New estimated arrival date: January 29, 2013
:3 So, looks like Amazon may pull through after all.
