Our Catholic Worker community purchases these blankets by the hundreds for our brothers and sisters on the streets during cooler weather. These particular blankets are lighter weight and can be used under a coat or bedroll as well as being used as outerwear. We absolutely know that this product can save the life of a person more subject to hypothermia (due to illness, disability, drug or alcohol impairment). Now we are distributing them to the local county hospital to give to homeless ER patients.

We were drawn to this product because of the price, but the true value of these emergency blankets is price-less!

We got these blankets to go into our emergency kit. We gave some to each of our children also. They are very compact and will be easy to keep for an emergency.

We opened one to check it out and I was surprised how decent these were. Unfolded easily and pretty thick for what I was expecting. The last mylar emergency blanket I had was so thin a fart might have ripped it, not with these!
Very happy with this purchase :)

50 Mylar blankets came very quickly. At first glance they looked very much like the other set I used to get in lots of 10 but when I compare these to those the 50 Mylar blankets are much, much thinner and rip very easily. All I had to do was try to unravel them from the folding and it would rip. Therefore I will not order them again. I have to use more than two each time to equal one. Double up for the quality I need for the cats shelters. I will not buy them again, and will not recommend them from this seller
For the same price I would get 40, but the quality was good. Also at Amazon. So I will go back to my original order. In my opinion if people were to use these 50 Mylar blankets they would be very disappointed and would not work for warmth or cool at all too thin. I'm certain people would return them.

These are proven designs. Good emergency protection, and pretty versatile--blanket, ground cloth, windbreak, tarpaulin, sun shade, solar reflector, emergency signal, insulation wrapper, sleeping bag cover and also sleeping bag liner.

Google it and you'll be amazed how many things you can do with these.

These are a larger, more generous size than some of the competing brands. Big advantage, because these need to wrap around you to be effective.

Someone asked how reflective they are. They're not intended to be used as a signaling mirror. I'd say they are about as bright, and as visible from the air if unfolded flat, as an equivalent piece of sheet aluminum. In some applications (lining a solar water heater box, say) you would get better results from aluminum kitchen foil. YMMV.

This is a lot of units at a ridiculously low price, cheaper than you'll find them at any discount store. Distribute them around wherever you think you'll need them--car, home, cabin, boat. They come individually wrapped, and they'll also fit in a ziplock bag.

Excellent for emergency preparedness and natural disasters.

Bulk buying is definitely the way to buy these. Retail, they are $3 to $6 apiece. At Amazon, many different vendors offer various size lots for under $1 per unit.

You get exactly what it says it is and at a per blanket price that's pretty darn good. It arrived on time and in good condition.

I bought them for model blimp building material and for that, as long as you have a good glue, Hot glue ironed with a clothes iron set to linen really isn't hot enough. I believe you'll need either the proper contact cement or an iron meant to go up to about 250F where hot glue is supposed to create a stronger bond. Try this at your own risk, as I haven't tried it yet.

But it's also a fine thermal blanket, as advertised and as expected. When I wrap one around me there's a noticeable difference in heat loss, as expected.

Nothing to complain about, so five stars.

Just FYI: it's aluminum on both sides and is either 1 or 2 mil --probably 1-- and not 5. So far it's pretty tough at that, nicely light and easily handels an iron set to linen --210F. Once you take it out of its bag and use it you need serious patients and determination (AKA "stubborn as a jackass") to get it back into its bag. Expect to fail or to not even try. The bags they come in aren't badly constructed and you might find them useful even at their small size.

Hope that helps.

In my car I have jumper cables attached to one of those rechargeable portable batteries. When we're in Minnesota, there's no way I want to be caught not being able to start my car with a half-frozen car battery. Likewise, for the sake of survival, I threw in a couple of these Mylar blankets. Good grief, they're seven feet long and four feet wide! You could wrap a polar bear in there! Yet it's folded into the size of a handkerchief. And it's cheaper than bubble gum. Ruth and I stick one of them into each Go Pack that we provide to street people that we encounter along life's way. -Clay Lifto (author of Only a Soldier Understands)
