This romantic fantasy plays like an MTV-inspired daydream-come-true as 20-something's Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet spend the better part of a decade having flirtatious encounters and one night stands until they chance upon a perfectly obvious Hollywood ending. Anchored by the Rock of the '90s nostalgia of Third Eye Blind's buoyant "Semi-Charmed Life", Smash Mouth (the resilient, '60s psych-pop throwback "Walkin' On the Sun"), Eagle-Eye Cherry's "Save Tonight" and the unlikely jubilance of The Cure's "Mint Car," it’s a soundtrack whose disposition is by turns sunny and bittersweet. Ray LaMontagne's soulful "Trouble," the spare R&B shadings of Groove Armada's "Hands of Time," and Jet's moping alt.pop give the collection some needed dynamics and resonance, but they aren't much more than passing clouds ready to be split wide by the infectious power pop of Travis' "Know Nothing," Aqualung's savory "Brighter Than Sunshine" and Butch Walker's urgent "Maybe It's Just Me." --Jerry McCulley

I think this soundtrack is as good as you can get, all that is missing is Ashton singing "I'll be there for you". The songs are heart felt, feeling sad go cheer up songs. It's a really good buy and I recomend it HIGHLYY!!!

If you're a romantic, see the movie, it's pretty good....

I got this because of "Brighter Than Sunshine" but it also reminded me about "Walking on the Sun" and I loved getting to know "Mad About You" by Hooverphonic. I only skip over two or three songs -- I'm not a fan of the Cure, and "Trouble" gets a little old, but of the 5 cds that I bought at the same time, this one gets the most airtime because it has so many cool songs.

Definitely worth buying.

I had to admit that my expectations for A Lot like Love were not very high. The previews did not tell you much about the movie and I thought it was going to be stupid. I was pleasantly surprised when the movie actually turned out to be extremely entertaining and actually have a semi-realistic plot.

When I walked out of the movie theater, my first thought was that I wanted to buy the soundtrack. I really liked the songs in the movie and was very happy that the songs are actually on the soundtrack (there's nothing more annoying then hearing a great song in a movie and it NOT be on the soundtrack). You most likely already know the first 3 tracks on the CD (semi-charmed life, walkin on the sun, and save tonight) because those are 90's classics. The CD has a great mix though with an song from the Cure and a great oldie from Chicago. By far, my favorite song on this album is Brighter than Sunshine by Aqualung, which is featured twice in the movie (during one of the best scenes and at the end). I also really like the Jet song and Breathe by Anna Nalick.

Overall, I think this is a really excellent CD because all the songs are good songs and the CD is very listenable. And if you haven't seen the movie yet, I actually recommend it. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised too.

This is a great soundtrack. The diversity of bands is good, you have 90's/00's stars like Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, and Eagle-Eye Cherry as well as songs from the Cure and Hooverphonic. A fun and wonderful album of pop, punk, and rock gems as well as some that could be termed easy listening. Better than a lot of soundtracks since sometimes the songs you like on the movie are not on the soundtrack when you get it. My favorite songs on this are all of them! The song particularly by Travis is very moving. Five stars for a great overall soundtrack.

I just saw "A Lot Like Love" today, and, like the last reviewer, I was pleasantly suprised by how much I liked it. I thought the actors had good chemistry, and that was beautifully accentuated by the musical selections on this soundtrack. I went directly from the theater to the music store next door and bought the CD, and I'm glad I did. I have been listening to it all day, and it's a great collection of songs for not much money. In my opinion the only thing that detracts from its listenability (is that a word?), especially if you listen to it on repeat, is the first few tracks. They were good songs in the 90's, and in moderation are still good now, but they have been so overplayed on the radio and everywhere else that I have found myself hitting the skip button the last couple of times through. Other than that, it's a very nice compilation of music. I also highly recommend the "Garden State" soundtrack for those who like this CD.

One great part of the movie 'A Lot Like Love' was the music. It kept you going with the scenes and characters throughout their ordeals, ups, and downs.

I listen to this CD every day as I commute to/from work. You just can't get tired of the variations of styles.

I recommend this 110%!!

I never purchase soundtracks but, after watching the movie I fell in love with every song. I am so happy I purchased this soundtrack there's not one bad song on it. Aqualung, Jet and Anna Nalick have awesome vocals. They were wonderful choices for new artists to use. Like I say this is A MUST BUY along with the movie. A must for any 80's and 90's fans.

First off, as a mid 40s guy this music is not really the type that I usually listen too (60s and 70s music is my forte). I bought the CD pretty much as an impulse purchase because I love the movie. I did find three tracks that I think are great. Track 9 (Brighter Than Sunshine- Aqualung) was the reason that I bought the CD. This is the song that plays as the closing credits begin. Just love it. Once I started playing the CD I realized two other gems. Tracks 11 and 12 (Look What You've Done- Jet) and (Breathe (2 AM)- Anna Nalick) are definitely worth a listen. I like Ms Nalick's song to the degree that I may search out for an entire CD of her stuff. In the long run I will probably copy these three tracks to MP3 and put the CD out to pasture. Happy listening
