When Ellen Jamieson breaks up with her long-standing boyfriend, she plans to go travelling. But first she agrees to house-sit for her parents, who are trying to find a buyer for their idyllic cottage in the Cotswold village of Oddlode. The village is full of quaint and eccentric characters, both blue-blooded and below the salt, and Ellen is the subject of much speculation. Under the wing of Ophelia ('Touchy Pheely') Gently, an impoverished local sculptor, Ellen goes to an Auction of Promises village fundraiser and wins a mysterious lot of three wishes. These have been donated by Jasper Belling, the incredibly gorgeous prodigal son of the local lord of the manor. Falling in love with a notorious hell-raiser is the last thing Ellen intended, and the convoluted scandals of the villagers put many obstacles in the way of the young lovers. Several ancient skeletons come rattling out of various cupboards before a no-holds-barred, loved-up finale.

I don't think I read the same book as the reviewer below. This book was fun summertime reading - I could barely put it down until I finished it. Ellen goes to Oddlode to sell her parent's cottage, as they've moved to Spain. She finds it in a total state of disrepair. Fate throws her with Spurs Belling, the handsome village outcast who's just returned after 10 years. The two fight their attraction for each other- Ellen because she's just coming off a long relationship and Spurs because of secrets in his past. There are also all of the eccentric village residents and Ellen's friend Pheely, who also has secrets. Fun stuff!

Dissapointed after a long wait,

After waiting more then two years for my favourite writer to publish I was sadly dissapointed in her lateset effort.Purhaps married life has changed her outlook. There were no lovable missfits or any fabulous friends in this latest effort. Very upsetting- I had looked forward to a weekend off and this book, I would have been happier working then i was, reading this book.

was my first time reading anything by Fiona Walker and I'm so glad I took up the recommendations of my sister, (Yvonne Clancy, thank you!). Lots of Love was completely unexpected and to be honest when I was reading the first thirty pages or so I was not so sure I'd made the right decision to pick it up. Another story about a woman who leaves her old life behind to cure her broken heart? I assumed it would be a very predictable story but I was pleasantly surprised.I'm glad that I decided to give Lots of Love a chance. The characters were original and the story was very well told. It was a poignant tale of one woman's recovery from heartbreak and the rewards that can come from taking a chance with your heart and being truly open and vulnerable with another human being. I enjoyed the secondary characters in the story, Pheely becomes Ellen's new best friend and accomplice. Jasper "Spurs" Belling represents every woman's bad boy turned good. One slight criticism I have is that I thought the building attraction between Ellen and Spurs was dragged out a little too long. They had several perfect opportunities to get together as a couple and I thought that part of the story was a touch dragged out. Lots of Love by Fiona Walker is a love story with a happy ending. I'm sure you will find yourself desperate to find out what happens next in the Ellen/Spurs impending romance. It's a real page-turner that makes you wishing the story didn't have to end. I would highly recommend Lots of Love and I look forward to reading more books by the fabulous Fiona Walker.
