5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, Tight Live Album, March 28, 2007
This review is from: Lots of People (Audio CD)
If you like John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, you might find this 1977 album to be right up your alley. Though it's a live recording, it's just as tight as a studio session. Of course, many of these people had played together for years by this point. Mayall served as a kind of finishing school for great blues guitarists, such as Clapton and Mick Taylor, and boasts some of the finest musicians in the business on all his records. Don't let the short track list fool you--the blues are meant to be played long and these songs are about twice as long as a standard track. Very enjoyable album and highly recommended. My only caveat---I am not a Mayall expert and I cannot comment on his song selection. I'm sure he had a lot of materiall to draw from in '77 and there must be some quibbling over what ended up on this live set.
