Lotte Hofmann (1907-1981) was among the leading textile designers of her era, receiving a number of national and international awards. Her commissioned works in tapestries and theater curtains decisively enhanced the reputation of textiles as an art form exceptionally well-suited to realizing aesthetic ideals.
After fifteen years of work as a commercial art instructor in Oberrot, South Germany, she founded her own workshop (Werkstatt LoHo) in 1946. Here she developed award-winning techniques and began creating imaginatively designed objects for every day use.
This book surveys Hofmann's entire oeuvre, demonstrating her boundless creativity as well as her exquisite craftsmanship.
