Loose and cheerful neighborhood comedy is just the ticket in Lottery Ticket. Kevin Carson (Bow Wow, Roll Bounce) learns the value of friendship when the lottery ticket he buys on a lark wins $370 million. Suddenly the sexy girl who wouldn't give him the time of day wants to hook up; a local gang boss wants to take him under his wing; and a surly thug just wants to pummel him and take the ticket. Kevin starts to suspect that even his best friend Benny (Brandon T. Jackson, Percy Jackson & the Olympians) just wants the money. But this story hook isn't really what makes the movie tick (which is good, because the plot falls apart at the end); most of the movie follows Kevin and Benny as they ramble around, riffing and bantering with each other and various quirky characters, including Loretta Devine (Death at a Funeral) as Kevin's grandmother, Charlie Murphy (King's Ransom) as a nosy neighbor, and Ice Cube (who also executive produced) as a reclusive ex-boxer. Lottery Ticket clearly owes a debt to Cube's Friday; Bow Wow and Jackson don't quite have the charisma of Cube and Chris Tucker, but they come across as goodhearted kids trying to motor-mouth their way out of a jam. The movie is silly but buoyant fun. --Bret Fetzer

This Film is a blast! What makes it very funny is the way that it exaggerates all of the responses from everyone that comes in contact with Kevin, the lucky guy who defied the odds of 1 in 175 million to get all the winning numbers to win a lottery jackpot of $370 million.

Initially when he realises that he has won, he and his grandmother go into a frenzie that is simply crazy and totally hilarious. Next his best friend gets the news, its another wacky scene.

As the story goes along, in spite of trying to keep his good fortunes a secret, soon everyone in his 'hood is in his house seeking a piece of the action, and a mad on foot chase scene unfolds. You really need to see this... its a belly full of laughs. Additionally overnight Kevin's fortunes change also with a lady (Nikki) that he was admiring.

But, there is also a very serious side with this film. Kevin gets involved with a thug/bully and a mobster that suddenly get an acute interest in him and his newly acquired fortunes. So, although this film has some very funny parts, it also shows the pitfalls that those that might acquire wealth suddenly can fall into.

Notes:

[1] There is also some irreverent humor as a Pastor zooms in on Kevin in order to lock in on some of his funds as well.
[2] Rating: PG - but still contains strong language.

I just want say something in regards to any negative reviews regarding this film. First of all, this film is a comedy. Nothing more. Nothing less. All political correctness should go out the door when it comes to viewing a comedy film. Secondly, this film delivers on what it's advertised to be. A comedy. Yes, this movie does ask the question of what would you do if you won the lottery. The character in this film does, indeed, make the choice that will not only benefit himself, but, also others. I, for one, loved the film and would recommend it to anyone who wants to see a true comedic film. Much props to Bow Wow (whose acting does seem to get a little better with each film), Ice Cube, Mike Epps, Brandon T. Jackson (who had everyone laughing their guts out), Charlie Murphy, and everyone else involved in this film. Also, notice how I didn't go deep into the plot of the story. Many of you can read that in the description box. I, for one, am tired of reading these "reviews" that go so deep into the plot description that it literally repeats what is written in the product description. Get on here, write about the movie in brief terms, state your opinion, and be done with it. LOTTERY TICKET is a winner. I will definitely own this film on DVD when it's released.

It is fun and funny from beginning to end, you find yourself repeating
some of the quirky statements as well as acting them out, for all of us
that plan on winning the lottery and what not to do.

There is not one thing about this movie that isn't 5 star material. I have been waiting for this kind of movie for a long time. Its a movie you can watch with your crew or your family. Ice Cube proved that he is not a one character actor again. Bow Wow even impressed me. The overall plot is simple yet believeable and the casting is genius. This is another classic from Cube as expected. I particuarly love the ending the most but there was so many great scenes that I feel should be mentioned that you might as well just buy the movie. each and every character hold their own in this movie so well that I couldn't picture it with anyone else playing in it. To be honest I believe that this movie would af been a huge seller if it wasn't so bootlegged. Please stop buying bootlegged merchandise, if you love an artist and support an artist then why would you steal from them? I dont see Ice Cube breaking into your crib and robbing you! So don't rob him! All and all buy the movie and actually watch it, you may love it as much as I do... Yo Ice! You keep making em I'll keep buying em homie!

I personally think Lottery Ticket is the new generation of Friday. I hope they make a sequel to this movie like they did to the Friday series, that would be nice. I think Bow Wow ( Shad Moss ) did amazing in this movie, and a lot better than I expected. I was hoping Ice Cube had a bigger role in this movie, like being the dad to Bow Wow. There is great actors in this movie. I hope to see more of Ice Cube doing more movies like he has been, because he is great. Most of the movies Ice Cube are in are hilarious, which makes it fun to watch over and over again. I might watch this movie a couple times, but I don't think I'll ever watch this movie as much as I've watched the Friday series. Overall I was happy with this movie, and I hope they make a full series out of it, or make a new Friday movie.

The ending was worth watching, but the rest of the movie was typical. Between the Ghetto ho trying to get paid with a baby, and the crazy grandmother, to the typical neja(no education, no job, no assets), hood rats; this was not a good portrayal of black life. Ice Cube's character and the female friend where the only characters worth watching. I rented this for 2 bucks.
