Book Description

October 15, 2009
This is a collection of stories. The Art of Love is by Kelley Nyrae. Monique Brenner has had her eye on the beautiful Maori art of Tane Koti. When her art gallery finally gains a little bit of clout on the Seattle art scene, she contacts him with an interest to buy some of his pieces. What she doesn't expect is the overwhelming attraction she feels toward the mysteriously, sexy man behind the art. Her gallery means everything to her which means she has to be professional. That means hanky panky is out of the question! But when Tane asks her to accompany him to a local art show, Monique throws caution to the wind. The allure of Tane Koti is too powerful to ignore and a girl can be only so strong in the fact of such attractive opposition. We'll Always Have Paris is by Mandessa Selby. Two unlikely lovers meet on the eve of the Nazi occupation of France. Daughter of two American ex-patriots, Delilah Simmons is the featured performer at the hot Parisian nightspot, The Indigo Club. The bastard son of a French aristocrat and his Vietnamese mistress, Jean Phillipe Dao, arrives at the club and is promptly enchanted with the beautiful Delilah. But clouds of war hang over them, as the Nazi army marches into Paris. Can the two lovers confront their differences, their passions, and their loyalties?

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding True Love, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Lotus Blossom Chronicles (Bk. 3) (Perfect Paperback)

Parker Publishing brings the latest edition of The Lotus Blossom Chronicles with selections by Kelley Nyrae and Mandessa Selby. Nyrae's, The Art of Love, introduces readers to Monique Brenner, a very ambitious, very beautiful owner of an art gallery. As her clientele began to build, she decided to invite the mysterious and talented Tane Koti to show his Maori Art at her gallery. Monique wanted to be professional but Tane excited her in ways she had not expected. As Monique explored the world of Maori Art and culture with Tane, her world turned upside down and it could cost her.

In Selby's, We'll Always Have Paris, Delilah and Jon-Phillip Dao are preparing for a very special ceremony. Surrounded by their children and grandchildren, who are eager to meet their favorite celebrities, the couple began to reminisce about their first meeting. Delilah, a sultry, cocoa-skinned beauty, was the owner of Club Indigo with dark secrets. Jon-Phillip, half French and half Vietnamese, was accepted wherever he went. But now, he must prepare his family to leave Paris to escape Hitler and his army.

Both of these authors have written stories that are entertaining and informative. Nyrae introduces the culture and art of New Zealand. The description of Maori art was very vivid. Selby took readers back in time to a period of hate. She brought together two unlikely characters that fulfilled something unimaginable. The stories were very engaging, informative, and romantic. Readers will not be disappointed.

"The Art of Love" by Kelley Nyrae is the story of art gallery owner, Monique Brenner, who not only admires the art of different mediums, but also dabbles in drawings herself. However, she has an opportunity to meet with famed artist Tane Koti and if she can have a few of his paintings in her gallery, it would definitely increase business. When the opportunity to meet presents itself, she finds an attraction to Tane, which is mutual. As much as she wants to keep the relationship business-like, Tane is not to be deterred. Their relationship blossoms into a steamy and sensual love affair where neither person can deny their love, but will Monique's past derail the lovers?

"We'll Always Have Paris" by Mandessa Selby begins in May of 1940 prior to the Nazi invasion in France. Delilah Simmons is a nightclub owner with an exotic voice. She meets Jon-Philippe Dao, the illegitimate son of a wealthy French man, when he comes to her rescue when Nazi Major Hans makes an unwelcomed visit to her club. Jon-Philippe is taken by the spirited young woman and wants to get to know her better. However, there is more to meet the eye in regards to Delilah, and it is this secret she is keeping from Jon-Philippe. Will Delilah's clandestine activities become known or will the Nazi's discovery of her secret derail their budding romance?

LOTUS BLOSSOM CHRONICLES are stories of interracial couples who find love. The stories for the most part were well-written and engaging. "We'll Always Have Paris" however didn't provide the sultry romance of "The Art of Love". The romance just wasn't built up and it seemed rushed and in fact the intrigue of the unrest in Paris had more of my attention. Both stories were interesting, just one had more sensuality and romance.
