Italy's best kept secret, February 20, 2004
This review is from: Lotus (Audio CD)
To fully appreciate this small powerhouse of a singer, one has to see her live. I've had the fortune of seeing her twice. It is simple to understand the motivation of this complex singer: clear, pure, crystalline passion for her music. Her latest CD shows us how she is not afraid of experimenting with new themes on her older songs. Result: they're enriched and we're enlightened. My wish is to see her touring with the North American female singers of her genre (Sarah,Mellissa,Paula, etc)giving her some exposure outside of Italy; exposure to share her music only, as she has no interest whatsoever in the financial benefits. She has continued to call the shots and stick to her ideals. You feel that in the music. I would like to complain, however, that this CD is way overpriced on Amazon if you consider you can purchase it in Italy for about 20.00 euro ($24.00)in Italy. Any reader is welcome to write me with any questions regarding a reasonably priced !!!ORIGINAL!!! CD If you truly enjoy music, get this CD..get all her CD's.

A Must-Listen Album!, December 15, 2003
This review is from: Lotus (Audio CD)
I strongly recommend this album, her music is the kind that anyone can listen to, she has a fantastic voice and her lyrics are amazing, shes has definantly shown how extremely talanted she is through her previous albums and she has done it again with LOTUS, it's a shame there aren't more singers like her, she is something special. LOTUS consists of 16 songs, seven which have been re-created from her previous albums, six new and original tracks, one of them being her latest release 'Broken', and three songs which have been previously sung by other artists. TRACK LIST ---------- 01. Hallelujah ( Previously sung by Leonard Cohen ) 02. Rock your soul 03. Broken 04. Femme Fatale ( Previously sung by Velvet Underground ) 05. Sleeping in your hand 06. Labyrinth 07. Beautiful Night 08. Almeno tu null 'universo ( Previously sung by Mia Maitini ) 09. Electricity 10. The Marriage 11. Yashal 12. Stranger 13. Luce 14. Gift 15. Interlude 16. A Prayer Once again, this is an extremely good album, I give it 5 stars and I hope you will all listen to it.

Sublime, January 10, 2004
This review is from: Lotus (Audio CD)
Maybe this is the best album recorded by Elisa. It is produced by herself and contains both old songs and new songs, and some tracks previously sung by other artists as well. Lotus is an acoustic album and offers warm sounds and peace, so you've got to look for this atmosphere. If you already know the version of Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, you must listen to the one by Elisa too: I guess it has the same force (and I didn't think someone else could sing Hallelujah as good as Jeff). You can also find a new version of Labyrinth, one of the first songs by Elisa and I have to say that I prefer this version that is completely different and more optimistic. Every new song has something to say that comes from Elisa's heart. My favourite ones are "A prayer" and "Interlude" but I do like "Electricity", "Beautiful night", "Yashal" and "Broken" as well.
