Lotus Notes Certification Exam Guide takes you through everything you can expect to see on the Lotus Notes Application Development I, Lotus Notes Application Development II, Lotus Notes System Administration I, and Lotus Notes System Administration II exams. In covering the @ functions, for example, this book explains each function's general syntax, then explains the parameters in detail, then shows an example. Loaded with scenario-based questions ("If Patty in Peoria edits a field...") that mimic real-world Notes situations, this book never lets you forget that you're studying for an exam. The only drawback to these questions is their typographical layout: it's tough to examine all four possible actions without noticing the answer, which appears right below them. Still, if you're prepping for any of the Notes certifications, you'll find this book and the sample tests on its accompanying CD-ROM to be worthy study companions.

Is a fine R4 review , just don't count on it for everything.,

People here seem to get confused on Exam prep versus learning Notes. As an ex-Loti (worked for Lotus), I can vouch for the book and state that it will HELP you to pass the exams mentioned--particularly the AD1, and SA1 (and really folks, there is NO easier Lotus test then SA1). If you have no experience with Notes, it won't help you, but what book could? I worked for 5 months in Lotus, learning the product, and THEN read the book and took the tests. Passed every single one on the first attempt, and yes, the book does help. SA2 was really the only area I thought the book was weak on. Lastly, before you purchase this at all, please note that last I checked this was an R4 publication only. Seeing as how Lotus and Lotus Business Partners have already shifted their focus to R5 (a much better release) , you may want to consider whether or not an R4 certification is worth your efforts.

I like the way in which the authors have summarized information from the exam point of view. From my experience, i would suggest that you go through the yellow books and then use this book. The exams are bit harder than what this book claims and some topics are left out. This book is more of a flash card type than a comprehensive exam guide. Then why 5 stars? Ultimately it serves the purpose.

Great book. Helped me pass AD1 and SAI. The CD-ROM is a little weak, but I found the author's homepage which offers more sample test questions on hoping for an R5 update soon.
