Amazon.com Review
Notes consultants will tell you a great deal of their work involves cleaning up installations that were done without adequate prior planning. The strength of
Lotus Notes and Domino 4.5 Developer's Guide is that it pays a lot of attention to the planning phase of a Notes installation. If you are new to Notes application development, this book's approach will put you on the right track. The first four chapters (nearly 100 pages) lay a strong theoretical foundation for creating well-thought-out Notes applications. Advanced programmers will not find much of this material to be useful, but they may want to skim it for details of Notes Web-enabled application development.
For experienced developers, the text does offer an extensive treatment of agents, LotusScript, Domino Web server applications, and Java-enabled applications. The included CD-ROM contains all the source code for examples used in the text, sorted by chapter. The CD also contains the entire book as a fully searchable Notes database.
