I thought Michael Oliver could not surpass the work in his epic, Lotus 49. Well, he has. The chassis documentation, race records, interviews and anecdotes with surviving Team Lotus members, and extensive photography (including many shots I had never seen) make this book a must have for any Formula 1 history maven and certainly anyone crazy about the late Team Lotus and Lotus cars in general. The book captures the genius of Colin Chapman, the last true innovator in Formula 1 race car design about a car that remained competitive for 5 seasons, unheard of these days.

I just received this book today. It is more than I could have hoped for! The pictures are wonderful, the interviews are informative and the level of detail is positively astounding. Anyone who is a fan of 1970s (or really any era) F1 needs to have this book on their shelf.

The Lotus 72 was competitive for five years - unheard of now. Some of the innovations (e.g. side mounted radiators) are still standard on almost any single-seat racing car today. Other innovations included inboard brakes and a wonderful wedge shape incorporating wings.

Buy this book. You won't be disappointed!
