Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Appearing in 1984, seemingly from out of nowhere, Autograph, unsigned at the time, were hand picked by Van Halen to open a mammoth North American concert trek - an accomplishment that quickly led to their inking with industry giant RCA Records and an ensuing hit single, the energetic and infectious, 'Turn Up The Radio' which made the US top 30. Feted and championed by the hard rock cognoscenti (supporters included Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne) this Los Angeles based quintet made all the right noises to further enhance their career by packing both melody and muscle into their music. Recording a string of highly successful albums the band peaked with this, their third album, unleashing a beast of significant fire power and songs that would stand not only the test of time but would also improve with age. Produced by Brit legend Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Humble Pie, Cinderella) the album exudes Class-A hard rock all the way. One of the all time great yet largely overlooked albums of the 80's LA scene. Rock Candy. 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most overlooked great albums, December 30, 2007
Everyone has one of those albums that nearly everyone else passed over at the record store that is really phenomenal.

This autograph album is probably the best autograph album, as it captures the band at its peak abilities. The production is awesome, the songs are well developed, the sound captures the whole 80s hair-band era prior to the implosion that was Dr. Feelgood and New Jersey (which ruined the whole era).

Every track is solid, with many almost perfect in their execution. If you ever own one autograph album this should be the one. No major hits were released to match "Turn up the Radio", but every song would be very radio friendly.

Way underated and overlooked. Buy it, listen to it a few times, you'll hear what I mean.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice effort but..., July 17, 2004
By Allan Winchester (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Loud and Clear (Audio CD)
I bought this one blindly when it came out. I was really hoping to hear something that resembled the first album but was quickly disappointed to hardly hear any keyboards. The first side was just straight ahead boring guitar rock. Dance all was okay, but just didn't grab my attention. Teaser and Just got back from heaven are the best songs, the later I thought was the best. If you find this album get it, it's rare and does have some good songs. Maybe I'm being to rough, it would be hard to top Sign in Please. As with That's the stuff, get it but just don't take out a loan to get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Broken, but still good. Yeah. still good.
This is a good disc, but some songs on here just seem like filler. For example, the title track "Loud And Clear" is all right but sort of sounds like someone threw together three... Read more
