5.0 out of 5 stars Definitly, an upgrade to their Punk, October 30, 2000
This review is from: Loud & Clear (Audio CD)
In 1996, The Oc Supertones realesed "The adventures of the OC Supertones", where we could hear a hard punk sound combinated with awesome trumpets and tenor saxs, yet, the sound was still somehow....inmature. In 1997, "Supertones Strike Back" (just like Leia's father) was some heck of a mind-blowing album. Supertones tried now Hip-Hop and even some Swing in their second realese, adding to their band a trombone player. Anyway, in this second realese, it didn't matter the fact that they weren't playing that much their punk-ska sound (wich is the one that all boring ska bands have), because now they had a powerful, new,DIFFERENT and awesome ska sound, wich made DEFINITLY, the Supertones best album yet. 1999 Hits and so does "Chase the Sun", by the OC Supertones. Well, lets see...again the punk was less, to the point that the only song where they REALLY showed us that rocking sound was Dedication, (casually the best song in the record). What did they do this time? Well, they gave us, first of all a Rap mix, wich sometimes worked (Grounded) and sometimes didn't (Chase the Sun). Then, they included this weird...I don't how to call it....Caribean sound? , wich was sometimes good (Away From You) but mostly it wasn't. Now, the less punk did matter in Chase the Sun, because this time, they didn't showed us anything new AND good at the same time. WHY DID IT SEEMED THAT THE SUPERTONES WHERE PLAYING LESS PUNK EACH ALBUM THEY REALESED?........ Now, at the beggining of the end of the year 2000, OC Supertones realesed "Loud and Clear". I was afraid to listen to this album, I just thought the supertones were going to keep on playing less pure rock....MY MISTAKE. They take the best of their previous albums: PUNK (Jury Duty, 20-20) HIPHOPROCK(Pandora's Box) and yes...even.....CARIBEAN(Father's World, Lift me Up) and not only joined them but made them all better! Definitly recomended, this is the most MATURE record the Supertones have realesed, we can see that they have grown, (yet they keep that aggressive line in their lyrics)Probably, with the time, this is going to become my favorite Supertones CD. keep it up, OC.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet, November 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Loud & Clear (Audio CD)
A couple of months ago when I obtained a sampler of this CD, i was blown away. Of course there is always the fear that they put the best songs on the demo so that you are enticed into buying it...not the case. This is the best Supertones yet by far. Turning to a slightly harder more rap influenced style than they were back in the beginning but still true to their style, Loud and Clear provides you with all that you could crave out of an album. Song 5 Return to Revolution i think its called is my favorite song by far. If you have not yet picked this album up...what are you waiting for, order it here or go to your local Best Buy or christian book store.

5.0 out of 5 stars loud and clear, October 18, 2003

personally, i would say, not only is this the best supertones cd, both musically and lyrically, but the best by any Christian band that ive seen as far as lyrics go. perhaps, because im not a fan of ska i have no problem with this album, which is definetly much more rock and much less ska. but, regardless of the music, which is certainly good, though not anything amazing, it is the lyrics that Matt wrote for these songs that makes this one of the best cd's i own. one of the previous reviewers wrote that they were very disappointed with the lyrics, however i find them to be the most, relavent, well thought out, and truely meaningful set of lyrics by a Christian band that ive seen. i think his words are amazingly well chosen and so full of meaning that most other Christian artists seem either to be too vague to be capable of anything this relevent or to shallow to really matter very much. "you escape reason, we escape wrath" his more meaning in it than entire albums by a lot of other Christian artists. in my opnion the music is good rock with a small bit of ska and and great lyrics.
