3.0 out of 5 stars A Great novelty purchase
SOAD'S Wu Tang cover is great. Tracks 2/ 5/ 9 and 11 are good and the rest are pretty bad.

This is a great album to get as a gift, or for under ($) otherwise its not worth it. If you are a hip hop head you will get frustrated at times because of all the girlish singing provided by Sugar RAY, Incubus et al and if you are a Rock fan then all the rapping will put you off...

this is just phat and i think there need to be more compilations like this, the whole cd is excellent and gives just a small taste of what im sure will be seen alot more in the future.theres so many takes that can be done on it and it would help up and coming artists as well as established ones.this is only the second rock/rap collaberation i can think of with the exception the judgement night soundtrack which is smooth as well.the one thing that bothered me about this was that the crazy town song is allready on their cd with the exception of about 40 seconds at the end,oh-well.and its pretty crazy hearing serj singing wu tang's shame on a nigga,i also thought ol tom morello should've done a little more varied guitar work, the shootyz groove song is one of the best ive ever heard from them and incubus's cover of pig pun is extra tight.the best tracks to me are shame, make room, hip hop, what u see, carribean connection, and still not a player-later

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, September 10, 2000

This has to be the best cd i have purchased all year. The way that the artists mix hip-hop and rock is great. I never thought that I would hear a song with Ozzy Ozzborn and the Wu-Tang clan. My personal favorite is Wu-tang and System of A Down on the opening track called "Shame" . If you like hip-hop or rock this CD is a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mash Up's Predecessor, September 16, 2005
This review is from: Loud Rocks (Audio CD)
First off if you want to know about artist you're not sure of, before you by their CD's get this one... I'm an afficionado of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal (esp. Nu Metal & Rap/Metal). A must hear for any S.O.A.D. fan is "Shame" (w/Wu-Tang Clan), Static-X it's all about the "Hip Hop" (w/DP), Sevendust "What U See is What U Get" (w/Xzibit) and Crazy Town taking their "Only When I'm Drunk" to another level (w/tha Alkaholiks). Though these bands were insightful for me to buy this, I was quite amazed with Endo's "Los Angeles Times" (w/Xzibit). No true Rap/Metal fan would want 2 be without TAKE A BITE OUTTA RHYME \ TOO LEGIT FOR THE PIT \ JUDGMENT NIGHT -SDTK \ nor LOUD ROCKS!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loud Rocks, does just that., January 19, 2005
This review is from: Loud Rocks (Audio CD)
I got this CD when it first came out a few years ago, it was actually a fluke that I got it. I thought some of the songs seemed like they would be great, and I found out that they did. I am NOT disappointed with this cd, and I will never be.

Every single track on this cd impresses me, and the rap/rock fusion is a sound that needs to be repeated.

2.0 out of 5 stars I've only heard parts of the cd, but it's enough, June 28, 2003
This review is from: Loud Rocks (Audio CD)
For all of those people interested in rap and hip-hop this is the album for you, but for all the others I'd say stay away. I only looked into it because I'm a huge incubus fan and want to hear all the stuff they have done, but this album is yucky. Brandon sings on one of the tracks and oh yes, he sounds all nice and Brandon like, but then the rest of the entire song is rap. I just am trying to warn those "rock" fans out there who may be thinking about this album that umm... it's not in anyway toward the rock genre from the parts I heard. And all those incubus fans like me, just stick to buying their own rare imports, singles, and old vinyl of demos if you want hard to come by good incubus music. But go hip-hop!

4.0 out of 5 stars BANG MUSIC STOMPS ON!!!!!, March 21, 2001

This album is straight up nothing but hardcore to the hilt, from top to bottom!

The best cuts are Xzibit's "Los Angeles", Shootyz Groove's "Carribean Connection", Wu-Tang Clan's "Ain't Nothing to F** with", and INcubus/Big Pun "Don't wanna be a player"..

This shows what the future of hip hop could be if many of its artists reached outside the box-- I dig it--

If you're into both Genres (Rap & Rock), There is no way you'll be dissappointed with this collection, the list of artists is right there, some of the best rappers including the wu-tang clan, and Big Pun, as well as Newcomers Dead Prez, join with some of the greatest Rockers Ozzy, and Everlast who was previously a member of the hip-hop nation. This collection is also home to so many GREAT new Rock bands, Static-X, System of a Down, and Sevendust. Loud Records Deserve a lot of credit for this compilation and I REALLY hope it lives on to see many new collaborations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insanely flawed, but brilliant when it works., September 6, 2000
This review is from: Loud Rocks (Audio CD)
This CD -- an all-star project where rock stars and rappers team up to cover the rappers' old hits on Loud records (hence the name) -- was very difficult for me to get a handle on, because while most of it is great, what isn't great isn't simply bad, it's mind-numbing. However, this album is nothing if not effective, with some of today's best and brightest rockers paying more-than-respectful tributes to rap classics that obviously influenced many of the bands. The best moment, for better and for worse, comes the second you put the CD in: System Of A Down's blistering, jaw-dropping cover of Wu-Tang's "Shame" is an ear-rattling masterpiece than fans of both groups will play over and over again. Elsewhere, it's a mixed bag, with worthy efforts by Sevendust and Endo (both featuring Xzibit) competing with cringe-worthy bombs by Incubus, Shooty's Groove, and especially Ozzy Osbourne's duet with the Wu-Tang Clan, a combination that for obvious reasons just doesn't work. Overall, though, this is an admirable, even necessary, compilation -- a very noble attempt to bridge two genres of music that couldn't seem more different, but ultimately share more than you'd think. In theory, it's a five-star-plus record, but in practice, four is more than fair. Flaws and all, a forceful and often very entertaining speaker-crusher.
