4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Valuable November 8, 2010
Format:Hardcover
This book begins with the clear and compelling message that engagement is inextricably linked to high performance. As we know that high performance equates to a robust bottom line, it naturally follows that as conscientious business leaders we should want to know how to create high levels of employee engagement. This book lays out ten steps that will help you get there. Moreover, the book is written in an easy to understand, highly readable style that makes you want to embrace its ideas and get started. So many business books leave the reader with the nagging sense that there is a huge gap between the advice offered and the reality of implementation. Louder than Words really is a book that contains achievable concrete recommendations. As the numerous clients and devotees of Bob Kelleher would attest, it is worth its weight in gold. My recommendation is to get it, read it, and follow it. You will be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great timing for this economy. October 7, 2010
Format:Hardcover
Every time I pick up this book I learn something new or reminded of a key component of employee engagement. It is a critical time for companies to address employee engagement instead of worrying solely about the bottom line in this economy. Now is the time to determine what distinguishes you from the competition in terms of engagement. Great reading!

By HRinSC
Format:Hardcover
I've had the pleasure of listening to Bob Kelleher speak. He lived the principles that he shares with us in his book, "Louder than Words." He is an engaging and highly effective presenter. "Louder than Words" is a state-of-the-art book if you're interested in learning effective ways to engage people. This is a well written, straightforward book in which Bob provides focus on many issues with which companies have been struggling and frames them in terms that should provoke action and application. He shares many examples of why engaging all of our people to help us find ways through these tough times is both beneficial to the company and to the morale of our employees. People want to be part of that which so critically impacts their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Guide to Complex Topic March 4, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Over time, I have read many books, articles and publications on employee engagement. Bob Kelleher's deep HR knowledge coupled with actual COO experience affords a particularly unique framework and perspective around the employee engagement topic in "Louder Than Words". Many companies state that they are customer focused and that their workforce is their greatest asset - but the first chapter of this terrific book provides an important cautionary note on this point: "there's no market for lip service" when it comes to employee engagement. "Louder Than Words" provides a much needed guide on the practical aspects of designing and implementing a portfolio of initiatives and practices that can truly impact an engagement culture. I highly recommend this book for both HR practitioners and business leaders alike who are interested in developing and implementing a practical approach to employee engagement at their companies.
