This review is from: Louis Agassiz Fuertes and the Singular Beauty of Birds (Hardcover)
Louis Agassiz Fuertes was one of the best bird illustrators of all time. So prolific was his work that no single exhibit could hold all his drawings and paintings. A large collection of his sketches watercolors and oils are presented in this 220 page book. Fuertes died in 1927 and many of his fragile watercolors were lost over time. Only the out of print books and collections in meuseums at Cornell University and the Smithsonian, to name a few, keep alive the charater and beauty of this naturalist's work. A foreward by Dean Amadon of the Museum of Natural History, and an introduction by Roger Tory Peterson of Peterson Field Guides, emphasise the great impact Fuertes had on the world's bird lovers. This beautiful book is to be treasured.
