After much research, we purchased the Louis Carpini G2 outfit for our 12-year-old daughter, Aviana Rose, who has been playing violin for 4 years now. It was a bit scary making a thoughtful purchase like this over the Internet, but after watching the many demo videos on the KennedyViolins.com website and being able to hear the different models as well as calling Kennedy Violins directly, we felt confident that their product would be as good as advertised -- and it is.! The people at Kennedy Violins were very patient as they answered our many questions which helped alleviate any apprehension we had in making this long distance purchase. The 45-day guarantee along with the lifetime 100% trade-in value sealed the deal. The product is excellent and the service is outstanding -- I highly recommend Kennedy Violins to musicians of all levels. Thank you for delivering what you promised.

I purchased the Louis Caprini G2 Outfit from Kennedy Violins. The violin is beautiful and has a great sound. I also ordered the KUN Collapsible Violin Shoulder Rest and Suzuki Violin Method Vol 1.
Kennedy is a great company to deal with. I am very satisfied.

This is our second violin from Kennedy Violins. Our first one was our Ricard Bunnel G2. We bought it around a year ago for under $300.

A recap of our other review (that still applies to this new violin) is that this guy Joel Kennedy was unhappy with the crappy violins his students were bringing in for lessons. So he found a source that would make violins that were affordable but made to his standards, spruce, maple, and ebony (NO plywood or spray on lacquer finishes).

Now for the Carpini G2.  It looks like a fancy violin, very shiny.  Because we love the dull finish on our Ricard Bunnel G2 this is not a big selling point for us. I am sure this is what most people want to see in a $600 violin.  It really isn't about that now is it, it is about the sound. Our RB G2 is wonderful and we love it, practiced with it for hours on end... but even though I (the father of the violin player) knows nothing about music... I can hear the upgrade in the sound another $300 made.  What I have learned is that the more expensive a violin gets, it is not about the pretty finish, but about the more select wood, and how much of the inside is carved out.  Our Carpini is a lot lighter than our Bunnel (meaning more of the wood has been carved out to produce a better sound), and for $300 more it should be.  The sound is great, but my daughter has been practicing for at least 20 min. a day 7 days a week since we bought her the RB G2, so we can really hear the upgrade of the Carpini.

A co-worker that has been playing for 60 so odd years was very impressed with this new violin, and her private teacher thinks it is a great upgrade in her violin journey.

In a nut shell... We are already saving up for her next violin from Kennedy Violins.

I knew better but bought myself a Chinese VSO anyway to reacclimate myself to violin after a 30 year break. Basically a beginner again, I thought it was good enough, but I realized inside a month it was holding me back. I decided to rent this model from Kennedy directly to see what I thought before spending more. I went from frustrated and nearly wanting to give up, to actually having fun even while being challenged. I can actually make something that sounds somewhat pleasing come out of this even with my lack of skill. I don't remember sounding this good after two years of lessons before. The difference in tonal quality between the two is striking and makes me wish I had just paid a few hundred more and bought this to start with. While there are certainly more refined instruments available for more cash, and this is way overkill for the average beginner, I could see this being all I'll ever need for my casual playing pleasure. Good thing Kennedy credits your rental payments toward a purchase because I don't think I can send this back.

We originally planned on ordering a cheaper violin to upgrade our daughter's true "student" violin and allow us to pass the "student" violin to a sibling. Her only request, not knowing a whole lot about violin options, was that the back be pretty. After beginning our research, we quickly came across this store and their youtube videos allowing the instruments to be heard in their best element. We quickly realized that this instrument would be much more appreciated and long-lasting due to its appearance (yes, it has a pretty back) and sound quality. We felt it had a rich warm sound. The violin seemed to be less squeaky and shallow in the higher notes and resonate more fully in the majority of notes. Honestly, whenever our daughter begins to practice, I find myself thinking, "Wow. That really IS a pretty sounding violin." and I smile because I know we had a hand in picking it and she will be pleased for a long time to come. This review would be remiss if I didn't mention that the service of this store is truly excellent; making it very easy to desire to be a repeat customer and to spread the goodwill so others will experience their service and great products firsthand.
