This review is from: St. Louis Car Company Album (Interurbans Special) (Hardcover)
Great photographic collection from the St Louis Car Company Archives in the holdings of the Washington University collections in St Louis, MO. The book is 160 pages filled full of B&W and color photos with captions of the assorted products manufactured by the St. Louis Car Company from its beginnings to its demise. Noted for electric trolleys, street cars, subway cars, and rail cars, they also ventured into many other areas of manufacturing based on the capabilities and skills of the craftsmen who worked there. They manufactured automobiles, buses, aircraft, and military goods during both wars. This book is heavy on the trolley cars and great for railroad enthusiasts and model train buffs. If you want more on the company history in depth, then get The History of the St. Louis Car Company. This book is 320 pages of additional company photos with a terrific text that covers the companies history. These two books make a great set.
