The music is not well known, intimate, a bit mysterious in a literal sense, in that it has come down to us with very limited playing indications either of timing in the pieces, or as to which should be played in which order. Nevertheless, after some listening it will be found deeply felt and moving. The harpsicord is magnificent in this recording, a large scale instrument, well recorded, and the playing sensitive and affecting. I find it less accessible than the better known harpsicord music of Francois Couperin, but more rewarding once you have made the effort.
