He battled mental illness and a stint in the horrendous Bedlam Asylum yet produced zillions of cat pictures that bedazzled the British and thrilled the Americans. Today many of these have been destroyed by World War II bombings, or are in the hands of collectors and not for sale.The author, Heather Latimer, is the leading authority on Louis Wain in the United States.
