Raful Neal was one of the key architects of the Baton Rouge blues and R&B sound, with a career that spanned six decades. With his relaxed vocal style and piercing, behind-the-beat harmonica, he won a devoted following on the South Louisiana scene and became an icon on the international blues scene.

This review is from: Louisiana Legend (Audio CD)
The professional reviewers don't seem too impressed with Raful's "Louisiana Legend" recording. But I've listened to a lot of blues and feel this is one of the best examples of raw, genuine and authentic blues stylings. Neal's voice draws some criticism. I like it for its unpolished style. There's emotion in it. He's very convincing. The songs are compelling. And his harp is exquisite and unusual. This guy sounds like no one else.
