Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Does the world need yet another book by a self-styled philosopher who shows a lack of originality in his choice of title? In the case of McWilliams (author of the best-selling Life 101, Prelude Pr., 1990, and last year's autobiography, Life 102, LJ 12/94), the answer is yes. The text, which describes the author's thoughts and methods on creating self-esteem, is quirky yet surprisingly interesting and readable. The chapter "What Have You Accomplished?" is particularly well done and effective. In signature style, McWilliams intersperses throughout a mix of wonderful and unusual quotations. Although Love 101 is not as profound as other works, such as Charles Spezzano's What To Do Between Birth and Death (LJ 9/1/92), it certainly has the potential to appeal to a wide range of readers. A good choice for all but the smallest public libraries.?January Adams, ODSI Research Lib., Raritan, N.J.

Review

"Love Yourself" could be the subtitle of a book which offers different approaches to self love; from cultivating self respect and pursuing personal dreams and goals to understanding what is involved in real self-acceptance. This is a fine self-help title which promotes inner healing, increased understanding of the psyche, and a cultivation of love. -- Midwest Book Review --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peter McWilliams is simply brilliant, September 13, 1998
This review is from: Love 101 : To Love Oneself Is the Beginning of a Lifelong Romance (The Life 101 Series) (Paperback)
Ok, i'll admit- i'm a book worm. I probably read about 60 books a year. In all of my years of reading, especially of everything i read in the personal growth field, this is truly one of the best books, if not the best book i've ever read. it is brilliant. You'll laugh and cry all the way through this book, and you'll forever cherish it as one of your most prized possessions. Truly, to love oneself is the beginning of a life long romance.

This book is terrific. Conventional romantic ideals have led a lot of us down a lot of blind alleys and into unneccessary pain and disappointment. These ideas portray an attractive, attainable alternative. Thank you, Peter.

Peter McWilliams is so tuned into what should be obvious to us all. Love 101 is particularly good company while driving "alone". It is insightful, humorous and I play it often to keep me tuned in and tuned up.
