Guitar-driven, breathless lust...,
By dna* (Colorado Springs, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love 15 (Audio CD)
I give this CD all five stars out of sentimental value. My first exposure to Majesty Crush was the single "No. 1 Fan" which sounds like the love letter Hinckley would've written Jodie Foster. I found that song plus "Pennies for Love" and a better composed (although not necessarily better recorded) version of "Horse" plus 2 more tracks on an early EP released on a label called Vulva. There's another EP on Vulva titled "Sans Muscles" with 5 tracks, one of which is a live (sounding) version of "Uma" titled "Bestower of Blessings." I recommend these recordings to all who love the sound of breathy boys pining obsessively over beautiful women (Jodie Foster, Uma Thurman, Monica Seles, Cicciolina, etc.) Majesty Crush pulls it off with brilliant waves of guitar ecstasy reminiscient of early Verve.

What a great CD...,

I miss these guys...
Always wonder what happens to some of these groups , with a unique sound - and certainly unique lyrics. "Feed his head to the seals..."?? Sweet!!

Shoegazer for obssessive people,
By Leshaun Fossett (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love 15 (Audio CD)
No, the lyrics are not typical shoegazer, but the simple fact that they are not is what makes this album unique and one of a kind. This era of music will never be reduplicated, so we must apperciate nuggets like "Love 15" as reminders of when music was actually interesting.

DISAPPOINTED!,

This review is from: Love 15 (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of shoegazer and dream pop music. I came across these guys and bought the cd after hearing only one song and was disappointed when I finally received in the mail. Most of the songs themselves are pretty good music wise, but the lyrics and vocals are horrible. They are so cheesy. The lyrics were obviously something leftover from a biology folder in junior high. The vocals are not your typical dreamy shoegazer style either; they are loud and obnoxious with a bunch of yeahs and heys. The British were definitely better at pulling off this style of music. Stick to artists released on Creation, Caroline or 4AD!

If you ever thought of buying this album then do it, you will not be disappointed. it rocks. it's solid from start to finish. I wish they would've put out more albums, what a shame.
