Biography

With over 50 million sales to their name, and six multi-platinum albums between 1977 and 1987, Foreigner's place as one of the front-runners of the AOR genre is hard to dispute.

The band was formed when Mick Jones and Ian McDonald recruited Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi. Their multi-platinum debut album Foreigner was released in 1977. It was an immediate hit with tracks… Read more in Amazon's Foreigner Store

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sappy '80's CD, December 18, 2003

This review is from: Love in the 80's (Audio CD)
10 out of the 12 songs are great on here. Foreigner's "Waiting for a Girl Like You" will make you think of "Moonlighting" (if you were a fan of the show) when the romance between (David) Bruce Willis & Maddie (Cybil Shepard) blossomed & the song was played constantly on the show. Laura Branigan's "How am I Supposed to Live Without You" is a great ballad (Too bad Michael Bolton had to ruin it with his crappy cover version). Christopher Cross' "Think of Laura" is one of the many memorable '80's records in my sister's awesome collection. Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere" is sang beautifully by band member Christine McVie (Ever notice that their other song "Little Lies" sounds a lot like this song?) Who doesn't like The Cars' "Drive"? Band member Benjamin Orr (We miss you! R.I.P.) sang this one & he has an amazing voice. Hall & Oate's "Say it Isn't So," 1 of the many great songs of theirs is here. The Force M.D.'s (a New Edition-type group that should've become famous. They were really talented) "Tender Love" is here. INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart" & Foreigner's "I Don't Want to Live Without You" were 2 of my favorite songs in the 5th grade. Jack Wagner sings "All I Need" & it's a decent solo effort by an actor (Man, I had the biggest crush on him when he was Frisco in "General Hospital"!) Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love" is the 1st on here that I don't like. Its country sound doesn't really fit in with the pop tunes on the rest of the soundtrack. I also can't stand Air Supply's "Sweet Dreams." That damn band has always made me wanna projectile vomit.
