This was the first Gospel album I heard over 24 years ago even before I was saved. It touched me then and it touches me now. It's a classic in every sense of the word and each and every song still inspires and moves me to tears of joy. I highly recommend it for it's spontaneity, it's raw emotion and the best gospel singing I have ever heard. It's a must have for a true and true gospel fan's collection!

...I hope to come back as Tramaine Hawkins, or at least be good enough to sing in Walter Hawkins' choir. "Goin Up Yonder" is one of my all-time favorite gospel songs, and on a bad day it's a good reminder to find joy in today. Tramaine's voice is enough to make it all better. Every track on this cd is wonderful. I absolutely adore "I Love the Lord" and "Changed". And "God Is Standing By" is some kind of contagious, house-shaking singing, especially the second half. This cd would have to come with me if I only had 5 to take.

I highly recommend Alive 1 & 2 to those of us who remember the days of the 70s when gospel songs came alive. The Hawkins Family sung their songs with an anointing. The words of their songs could be understood, and they touch my soul deeply. I had been searching for these old songs, and I was delighted to find them on Amazon. I have ordered my set, and will enjoy them another 20 years! Get them, you won't be sorry!

I have heard many Christian artists over the past 25 years, and there fall under 2 simple catergories; 1)ANNOINTED or 2)ANNOYING. This CD is overflowing in the first catergory and is a fine example of how Gospel music used to be played between the late 60's and throughout the 70's. No synthesized razzle dazzle, sampling but musical simplicity connected with annointed voices.

Get this or regret it. Simple as that!

One of the main reasons I bought this cd was when I was a teen in church back in the Bronx,N.Y., our chior used to sing these same songs, and some years later, I discovered a cassette at my parent's home and it just brought back the memories. I recently bought this cd and Love Alive 2 since they bring back great memories, and I tell you, they are truly some of the very best gospel albums out there of all time. It makes you want to raise your hands in the air and give God the praise. Worth the listen and brings back good memories.

Great! Tramaine Hawkins has been one of my favorite Gospel singers of all time. "Changed" is a very special /favorite song to me and it is a classic for those who believe and for those wanting to. This CD is well worth it for this song alone. However, there are several songs "Follow me, Going up Yonder", that the Hawkins family have made memorable and everyone listening to the CD will be uplifted. Love Alive 1 is a Gospel Classic and a must have for everyone and every family.

I am a HUGE Walter Hawkins fan, so I may sound very biased here when I boldly say that the original "Love Alive" is the best album in gospel history. Well, maybe I should call it the best gospel recording that I've ever heard (and I've heard quite a few). Even though "Love Alive" was recorded in 1975 (I was only one year old then), I am definitely more spiritually inspired, persuaded, and moved musically by it than any of today's hottest gospel offerings. "Love Alive" showcases a young Walter Hawkins with some of his freshest songwriting, directing, keyboard playing, and singing. Walter introduces Tramaine Hawkins (his former wife) who leads "Changed", a melodious testimony that is definitely the best gospel song that I have ever heard. I have played this song at least twice a day for the last five years. Since then, Tramaine has gone on to become one of gospel's most revered female vocalists. Lynette Hawkins Stephens (Walter's sister) confirms her rich tonality when she leads "I'm Not The Same" & "God Is Standing By." The Love Center Choir was a new assembly of the Bay Area's strongest young voices. According to the Minister of Music at my church, the choir introduced and master the signature "power sound" that most gospel choirs of today embrace. I love every track on this album (CD), but others that also stand out are "I Won't Be Satisfied", "Dear Jesus, I Love You", "I Love The Lord", & "Follow Me." Truly, I suggest that you buy "Love Alive" only if you want to hear the most anointed inspirational album ever.
