This is the story of Mallory, the daughter of Colin and Janna Trevor, characters in a previous book by Anita Stansfield. Mallory has every reason to believe that her life is close to perfect. with a temple marriage to Brad and a darling toddler, she's living the LDS dream. Then, one dark night, a single self-inflicted gunshot ends Brad's life and shatters her world. Mallory struggles with feelings of guilt as she tries to understand how this could happen.

Time passes, and love again finds its way into Mallory's heart. The ghosts of her past heartaches, though, make it very difficult to trust and to love again.

This book is an extraordinary novel that will touch and move you on many different levels. I especially love the way Anita Stansfield brings former characters back into her stories. How wonderful to be allowed to "check up" on people you grew to love in previous books. Michael and Emily Hamilton return in this book to share their insights on a problem Mallory and Thomas face, a problem which Michael and Emily also dealt with in their relationship.

To really enjoy this book, you need to read those that came before. Anitas characters come to life on the pages of her books. Readers feel they know each character, personally, by the end of the book. Each book continues the story from the book before. They grow with the families as they progress. You know the history of each character, if you have read all of her books, however, each book is complete in itself and you need not read all the novels to enjoy each one individually. But you'll want to read each one, in order. From her "First Love and Forever" to "For Love Alone" you know each character intimately. This book (as do all of Anita Stansfield's books) tugs at the heartstrings and you won't be able to put it down. I have laughed and cried with each character of each book. This most recent book "For Love Alone", deals with a Husbands' Suicide, Codependancy and Interaccial Marriage in a sensitive and loving manner. You won't be sorry for buying this book. I eagerly await each new Anita Stansfield book.
