Wonderful idea for a book, the the author can't not follow through the story line. First, the strong, unique character of Aspen, the heroine in the book was totally wasted, and her professional opinions on the case were incorrect. She turned out to be a damsel in distress, which is contrary to the intended story line, I think. Oh, did I mention that I HATE CLIFF HANGERS?

I'm a little surprised that there are so many 5 star reviews. This book began with loads of potential, but quickly fizzled out. I don't mind suspending belief, but this book is over the top. I can't even put into words how this book doesn't make sense. Everyone from the profiler, to the tracker, to the serial killer flip flops in character. I hated the profiler in both of her personalities(hard core, wicked smart, bad a$$ FBI agent and simpering, spineless, love-struck mess). The outrageous abilities of the serial killer (medical expert, pilot, woodsman, identity thief, technical expert, computer expert, marksman, explosives expert, blackmailer, crime scene expert etc) was insane. I really didnt understand the role of the Native American tracker. At first the idea of him was really interesting, but that fizzled away too. Also, if you're expecting this book to be set in Denali, (since the subtitle is Passions in the Park) it really isn't. And what little bit it is, there is just barely any description of it. Anyway, I wont be reading the second book. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this drudgery of a book is cliffhanger.

I liked the characters ok, but it was so unrealistic that it became a distraction. I couldn't get into the story when every new situation just had me shaking my head. Also, the whole premise of this being at a national park, the park being the guy's first love etc etc etc... There is almost nothing about the park in there! No detail! I would very much doubt the author had been there.
The writing style was actuality pretty good and it's refreshing the read a free download that isn't full of editing errors, but a little more research would have gone a long way.

I've never written a review before, but I just couldn't say no this time. This book was a complete waste of my time. I finished it, but just barely, skimming the pages of the last few chapters just to get through it. I was curious enough to see how it ends, so I guess that is something, but I just couldn't get passed the unbelievably incompetent law enforcement agents and officers who are supposedly good at what they do. I can't believe there is another book. I won't be reading it.
The law enforcement is my biggest gripe, but the Alaska part didn't improve the book any. I live in this great state and knowing the areas mentioned and the seasons here just made the book even worse for me.

Good story. Good characters. Goes no where. Tune in next week. Same time. Same station. Waste of my time. Cliffhanger.

I'm never disappointed when I read this author's work! This story was fast paced and exciting. The characters were interesting and I liked how they learned to relate to each other. The story was suspenseful and I'm anxiously awaiting the 2nd in this series.

Aspen is a bossy FBI profiler made tough by the ugliness and urgency of the job. Greyson is the park ranger for the park where a serial killer left his latest victim. The two join together to catch the killer but what else will they discover along the way? Great fast paced story. Aspen is hard to like at the beginning of the story but stick with it because Redington does a great job turning that around. The story is filled with interesting interactions between the characters and just the right amount of descriptions. The end seemed a smidge abrupt but still good. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

If i'd realized it was a 'cliff hanger' would not have read it till i had all if the series! Hard to believe the killer had better abilities to out smart the park rangers PLUS the FBI working together. Kinda unbelievable.
