Simply AMAZING!,
By
This review is from: Love Appears (Audio CD)
Ayumi Hamasaki is my number one favorite Japanese singer. She just reigns supreme.. and it really shows in this CD, Loveppears. This CD is the 2nd album that she has released. This CD is my favorite out of all 3 that she has released. The other two being 'A Song For XX' (1st album) and 'Duty' (3rd album). Now the songs that she includes in this album have songs ranging from slow ballads to songs with upbeat dance tracks. Ayumi has written all her songs and they are just so amazing. My favorite songs on the CD are To Be, Who.., Trauma, Immature, Boys & Girls, endroll, Love refrain, and appears. As you can see that's practically the whole album ^^; All her songs are amazing and it's one of the first CDs that I have so many songs that I like on just one album. Her second CD is a treat! It includes music and multimedia you can access through the computer. Some are audio clips from her past songs, some movie clips and many other extras. FUN FUN FUN! Anyway, the songs are all remixes and specials. I really enjoy the remixes because they include like 10 or more songs in each one and little parts of it and it works so well together! The remixes are like 9 or 10 minutes long too! Anyway, if you're just getting into Japanese music (JPOP) or haven't heard any Ayumi songs, this is a DEFINATE MUST HAVE!

She's EVERYWHERE in Japan,

Just try and go anywhere in Japan these days and NOT hear Ayumi Hamasaki's new CD...impossible task! The 2000s version of Utada Hikaru (99), this new singer has captured the essence of youth in Japan today....wanting to be different, wanting to escape from a future life as a salaryman or shofu (wife of salaryman) and yet longing for some of the traditional elements that make life in Japan special. Disc 1 on this album consists of 16 songs that range from ballad to techno. Disc 2 has dance mixes of some of the more popular songs including one from her last album. Plus, while you are listening to ALL this you can play the Disc 2 on your computer featuring clips of her advertising everything from makeup to soft drinks, and then you can learn how to pronounce some Japanese words with the proper Shibuya insolence! A fun compilation! The only reason I did not give this CD a 5-star rating is because after listening to the WHOLE album in one sitting I was Ayumi'd-out and longing for a song not sung in a minor key! I would recommend this album to anyone who also enjoys ELT or Brilliant Green or Utada Hikaru.

Awsome CD,

This is an awesome CD. The mixes on the second disc and the music on the first disc just make this the perfect album. You can't miss the music videos, ads, and ads that have her music. I do think Amazon.com is overcharging for this item. I would recommend buying from Amazon.co.jp if you would like a new CD. After you pay for shipping and everything it's still $20 or so cheaper than if you had bought off of amazon.com for the same CD.eBay is also a good option if you're looking for a deal. Everybody enjoy this CD!

Thankyou for the remixes Ayumi!!!,

Ok if you like happy hardcore J-pop sance music then BUY THIS ALBUM!! I don't even understand Japanese but most of the songs are catchy and have you humming along to the tune...I didn't know that was possible without knowing the English translations of the lyrics but it is! I have read some other reviews where people have been criticising Ayumi as a really whiny, bad singer...but if you don't speak Japanese (like me) then you don't even notice! I personally think she sings fine! P.S The remix disc on this album is worth the price...I think the Euro mix is one of the best remixes I have ever heard...it is a floo-filling megamix which splices from different thumping genres like electroclash and the 80's styled remix of WHATEVER...10 minutes of adrenaline! Great to play on your car stereo while driving down the road looking all trendy...this album actually makes me want to learn Japanese to find out what she is singing to genuinly! Even though this album is about 5 years old, Japanese music production means it still sounds modern and relevent today...well done Ayumi for writing every song lyric too!

I love ayu's songs, especially TO BE, Kanariya (the *secret* track at the end of disc 1), and the megamixes! The album is great! And the 2nd disc has clips of other songs and PVs. If you buy only one Ayu CD then this is the one!

Absolute must-have,

Utterly priceless, which is probably a good thing as it's not cheap! Fly High, Appears, Whatever, et al all brilliant, and all different: no two songs are the same, which is what you often find with so-called 'Western' artists that are locked into a musical style.
I wouldn't suggest this as the best introduction to Ayu for a new fan simply becoz of the cost. Try 'Duty' or 'I Am...' instead.

Classic Ayumi,
By monkeymoogle (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Appears (Audio CD)
This album features some classic songs by Hamasaki Ayumi, one of Japan's top pop sensations. Unlike many pop artists, Ayumi manages to create albums with a variety of styles, promising few "sound-a-like" songs. If you're already a fan and like the classic Ayumi sound, as opposed to her more recent stuff, check this album out.

This is Ayu's representative work.,

This is Ayu's representative work. I believe it surely satisfies the strong desires of those who are interested in J-pop. My favorite songs are "Fly high" and "Boys & Girls".
It is difficult for many people, even for Japanese, to comprehend what she sings because of the sound arrangement and the quickness of her speak. But many peple can enjoy an atmosphere this album presents.

Trance, dance, R'n'B, pop, rock this womans done it all and keeps coming back for more!LovePPEARS is a two disc set consisting of over 20 tracks and an array of adverts for her singles, for cosmetics, food, scooters and voice clips, magazine covers from AYumi's ealier days. Granted this album is from '99 but it still holds up against her recent releases, such as her new single Daybreak. Buy this! If only for the second CD which contains 5 remixes, two of which are remixes of her earlier works. Oh yes, P.S II stands for powder snow two, the second in a series from her old album. Also, Love~refrain~ has two counterparts called love~since 1999~ and love~destiny~ all have the same tunes but only one is on the album. WHATEVER also has a popish counterpart called WHATEVER version J which is also good! BUY BUY BUY!

I've Never heard such detailed music before.,
By
This review is from: Love Appears (Audio CD)
Ayumi Hamasaki's songs have gone from good to great to unbelievable. Loveppears is so fantastic. Most of the songs are Japanese Electronic Dance music with a hint of Euro-beat and some techno, and will make you want to just get up and dance. Over half the songs have been put out as singles (and rightly so), and the whole CD is really good. The music is so detailed that you can actually hear multi-layers of instrumentation, beats, vocals and notes. If you want a treat for your ears, this CD is the one to get. She's currently the hype in HK/Japan/Taiwan and most of Asia.
