A Kid's Review
This review is from: Love Arcade (Audio CD)
Love arcade is a revolutionary mix of different genres of music. I have to say i have a fancy for their music and it has a good sound. I listen to it pretty much everyday and from the first to last song you get addicted. this band is a band worth listening to and have the best tracks i've heard for a long time. These guys really did start a revolution and I can't wait to see what they pull out of there sleeve next.

The lead singer/songwriter/producer/layout designer/video director is named Christian but his stage name for this project (not band, he recorded the album by himself) is Snow white. I think that's a little fanciful although his music is anything but. His music is prime power-pop influenced by Prince by way of Kravitz. It has a R&B feel to the rhythm of a number of tracks and hip hop on a few. Some of his tracks are fresh and exciting bursts of rock exhuberance like "Keep it coming" "Candy" "You Tease me" and other tracks slow it down and provide haunting strings. In the end it feels that the strongest of the tracks are top loaded in the record and that somewhat hurts the record, but what the record feels like is a compilation of singles along with other material recorded after he got his record deal to complete the album. That is a way a lot of albums are made, however, there is something to be said for knowing what to leave off the record be it good or bad. Bob Dylan left "Blind Willie Mctell" off one of his albums and his friends thought he was crazy as it was the best track in his opinion. Years later it was released in one of his bootleg series of albums and people understood that it might have not fit in with the rest of the original album. With this album it isn't the case. Some numbers just don't work, part of this comes from Snow White being the producer and sole performer. He may not be able to separate the cream from the crap since he's so close to the process and still so young. His voice is whiny and he tries to imitate Princes vocals (in my opinion) only whinier and with less range. Next time, I hope he records with a band and a co-producer who will make the sound more refined and make his voice less whiny.

My friend had been singing Love Arcade's praises for WEEKS, before I finally decided to break down and buy their CD. I was completely thrilled to discover that it was completely worth the money, and they are now one of my favorite bands.
This CD is fun to listen to, sing along to, dance to, etc. It's this unique blend of rock, pop, and an innocent attempt at a little hip-hop. I am NOT a fan of rap at all, and this is nothing like rap, but the band is from Detroit, so they have this original approach to their music. To top it all off, the lead singer made the entire CD- IN HIS BASEMENT- and it sounds fantastic! If you're truly curious but overly-cautious, log on to MySpace and listen to the songs that they have posted on their page. I couldn't get them out of my head (or my CD player) for weeks. I would also like to add that they are some of the NICEST guys that you will meet if you get the chance to meet them in person. For one thing, of course they should be because they're not so big that they can alienate their fans and still sell records, but you can tell that they understand the importance of a strong and loyal fan base, so they wouldn't be arrogant if they had the chance. They also don't make a habit of drinking- SMART CAREER MOVE! Buy the album if anything because they're a talented group of young guys who deserve some opportunities.
