Not alone,
This review is from: Love Beyond Reach (Audio CD)
Lately I seem to be discovering new up and coming artists in the goth/industrial genre via MySpace. One of my favorite discoveries I found off the vastly popular social networking website is the Estonian band Suicidal Romance. Dimitry and Viktoria are the two principal members of Suicidal Romance. LOVE BEYOND REACH is the group's first album and it is a spectacular debut. Anyone who is familiar with Blutengel and Lost Area will thoroughly enjoy Suicidal Romance. The music follows the same recipe from the other two bands with the male/female vocals, addictively infectious pop hooks, dark and romantic lyrics, and pulsating synth beats. What makse Suicidal Romance stands out from Blutengel and Lost Area is that Viktoria's vocals are more prominent than Dimitry's on the album. While the lead singers in the other two bands are men. I am not bothered by Dimitry's distorted vocals. I am used to that type of vocals since it is common in the industrial genre. Dimitry's lyrics are not as over the top as Blutengel's Chris Pohl's lyrics tends to be with the obvious vampire theme that permeates through out his songs. All thirteen tracks on LOVE BEYOND REACH is addictive. They are super catchy. I can't pick out any favorites because I enjoy every single song. If you love Blutengel and Lost Area, check out Suicidal Romance. This is definitely worth having in any goth/industrial lover's music collection.

I will be the first one here to compare Esponia's Suicidal Romance to Blutengel who (surprise, surprise) even remix a song on their debut album, LOVE BEYOND REACH. And in some ways I actually like this group more, but in other ways I don't. The electro-pop beats laced with gothic romanticism make for a very pleasurable listening experience that is catchy as all hell (not to mention the lyrics are thankfully not as corny as Blutengel's can be at times). However, one thing I cannot stand is Dmitry's cold, mechanical way of singing. I honestly feel as if they just get in the way of the addictive, melodic music and Viktoria's gorgeous, more prominent vocals. They've definitely grown on me, though, and most probably won't mind. So with that said, this is certainly worth owning.Track listing goes as follows: 1. Love Beyond Reach 2. Not Alone 3. Will It Be (for us) 4. Call Me 5. Angel of Love 6. White Snow 7. Poisoned Kiss 8. Lonely Tears 9. Prince of the Darkness 10. Star 11. In This Night (lullaby) 12. Not Alone (Blutengel remix) 13. Star (Lost Area remix)

When you think of a band's first album, you think of the flaws in it. There ar enormally things that stick out in even the best band's creations, and those normally get fixed later on down the road. In Suicidal romance's first album you didn't notice that, however, and you foudn yourself really owning something that was quite remarkable. From their clipping they have russian in the audio stream, but you couldn't tell it from the singing. No, the vocalists - one male ad one female - really rock the house. I was shocked by just how good the two did when they sang. As far as the type of music they produce, they make electronic tastes with all sorts of topping for people to try out. Sometimes the sound is more dancefloor and sometimes it is EBM hymn, and othertimes it is a lot of things all rolled into one. The vocals can be angry or they can be beautiful, or they can be a combination of sorts. That is something I really liked about this band - it was amazing. What was more amazing still was that the tunes place (can't type it in) has a great touch of discount going on with this. you should try it out. Metropolis Records has now signed the band so others will know who they are and, really, someone knowing means more demand. You want to step in while the bread is fresh and the bakery is unknown, allowing you to say "i knew them when they were only this high." This high - that struck me as funny.
