I am one of the few lucky people who have Jan Krist's first album Decapitated Society which is no longer in print. Lucky for you, Jan has put out Love Big, Us Small. It's packed with 18 songs, 7 from Decapitated Society, 8 from Wing and a Prayer (also out of print), and 3 new songs.

Jan's songs are very personal, and I often find my feelings spoken through them. I consider this album my personal favorite and think it would be well worth your time.

This is such a wonderful recording. Jan Krist's voice is crystal-clear and beautiful. Her writing and her views on what is happening with herself, her family and her planet show depth and compassion. I did not realize this was a "gospel" record until I downloaded it onto my computer and it was labeled such! I thought she was a folk singer, so what do I know?! I am sharing this with not only my Christian friends, but with others seeking a different path. Truth is truth, no matter how you dress it.

In all ways this is the most personal of Jan Krist's CD's, replete with pictures of her and her family growing up and of of her wedding. There are only 4 new songs but all very worthwhile, especially "Spirit So Big" a continuation of "Daisies in Your Bowl" , a beautiful song about the death of her father when she was only 14. And then there is "God Have Mercy" an unusual but most touching and complex love song about the difficulties the past brings to a new marriage relationship. Also included is "You're Absolute Right" detailing the disadvantage of parents in dealing with their children and "Tarzan Tells All", a commentary on life which includes the title words of the CD. The other 12 songs are favorites from past albums, several for which she won awards. It is her honesty that comes through these beautiful melodies, just right arrangements and background music, and the usual strong beat we expect of her music. This is all Krist at her best.
