Love Bite -- Great Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Bite (Paperback)
This is actually a very good book. It's written about a vampire named Rissa that puts an ad in the newspaper "Looking For Love." She's got a very organized way of eating dinner, too. Jace is a good character, as well. I thought it was an amusing book, and definetly worth reading if you're a fan of vampire novels. It's got some original parts. Read the sequel, too.

It was a great book,

This book had everything I usually look for in a vampire novel. The main character....Risha Cadigan was a sharp, intelligent lady vampire. Very well written. The author definalty researched the police investigation aspect of the plot. An excellent book.

Dark paranormal romance meets hard boiled detective novel,
By
This review is from: Love Bite (Paperback)
This book to me is a melding of two of my favorite genres- the hardboiled detective meeting the mysterious hungry vampire who only feeds on the unsavory ones who society disdains. The hero reminds me of Michael Connely's tormented Harry Bosch.
The ending is satisfying and has a ring of moral redemption while at the same time plunging our hero into the vampiress' darkness. Few romance type books have the female as the vampire- this mystery does a great job of moving the story along and building a tale with compelling and interesting characters. WOuld love to read more like this- how about a sequel?

terrible,
By Sir Readsalot (Tulsa, Ok) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Bite (Paperback)
unfortunatly i have this o.c.d. thing, and once i start a book i must finish it no matter how bad it is. this book was terrible for a few reasons. first you cant read ten pages in a row, it seems, without the author injecting the Clarence Thomas sureme court confirmation hearings. when i pick up a book about vampires the last thing i want is a not so subtle look at the authors political views. wheather i agree with them or not.
The second reason this book is terrible is the protagonist (Jace) is thouroughly unlikeable. He sleeps with his married partner. he wants to bust a guy at a party for coming out of the bathroom with coke on his nose but its ok for him to smoke joints he confiscates during a murder investigation. He abandens all the principles of his job as soon as he finds out that he can live forever without so much as a moments internal struggle. The guy has Huntington's disease so i can see why he might choose this path but he has spent his life catching murderers, now he wants to become one. Presto Chango, just like that. the third and final reason this book is terrible is the pretentiousness of the author. She actually has the protagonist meet Ray Bradbury at a party. "RAY BRADBURY" pulp work like this has no business including a great author like Bradbury in it. just rediculous. |
