Amazing Story of Love Between Soul Mates Throughout Time,
By AOS (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality (Paperback)
This is a truly incredible book. Stephanie Riseley describes the experience of suddenly, unexpectedly channeling her husband after his death. In the process, she realizes the true depth of the spiritual bond between them and gains new insights into the multi-layered complexity of the life of the soul. Her light-hearted playful style makes you wish the book would last forever. I recognized so much of my own life in its pages. I also gained new insights into the whys behind many of the things that had happened in my life and many of the choices I had made. This book is a must - not just for people who are struggling to make marriages work before they lose a soulmate it took them forever to find - but for anyone who has ever felt depressed or angry or simply doesn't enjoy life to the fullest. I definitely indentify with Stephanie's former husband Dan when it comes to not having made the most of my life. Love from Both Sides has helped me to change that.

I've never read anything like this. It would be hard not to think differently about your life and your relationships after you read this book. It's both a fascinating auto-biography and very enlightening spiritual guide. The author shares her experiences with the "soul" of her deceased husband in vivid detail. Anyone who has lost a loved one can gain unique perspective.

Even though this books deals with the death of a husband, Love From Both Sides is really about living life to the fullest. Because my own husband dropped dead at 36, I could understand the despair that goes with such a loss. I was genuinely inspired by the author's tenacity and fortitude... and now I know that the dreams of my own husband's return was his essense coming back to love me. Because Love never dies! I loved this book! Thank you Stephanie Riseley! Bravo! I recommend it highly!

As in Life, So in Death,
By Grady Harp (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality (Paperback)
Stephanie Riseley has produced a book that will be a solace to many who have 'lost' their loved one - because, as she so clearly and wisely puts it, that loved one is not at all 'lost', but just 'beyond'. Riseley is a 'hypnotherapist specializing in past-life regression and future progression, who helps people change their self-sabotaging behaviors.' And though some may look at the full title of this book - LOVE FROM BOTH SIDES: A TRUE STORY OF SOUL SURVIVAL AND SACRED SEXUALITY - and expect to see a mention of M. Night Shyamalan, this is not a book waiting for that director of films 'from beyond' to embrace. Instead what is here is a book with one of the most appropriately descriptive covers (the writer and her husband as deck of card placed characters, the upside with Stephanie in focus, the bottom image with departed husband Dan in focus), a book that invites us to get close to this fine writer and share her year of intimacy, communicating both in word and in physical sensitivity after her husband Dan's heart stopped beating under her hand and she felt a rush of presence that her own sensitivity interpreted as death not having won. In her words ' My own journey to awareness began the night Dan died and continued for more than a year. I discovered what agreements we made with each other, what we were meant to achieve together, what we managed to accomplish, what we didn't and why. Yes, my husband died that night, but truth be told, he died so that our love would live. For in the months before his dying, we'd almost lost each other and we'd almost lost our love. We simply weren't "paying attention".'What follows is a book that is unlike most others that deal with communicating with the 'dead'. Riseley has elected to share her time with Dan by describing how she communicated him at the computer (his thoughts driving her fingers to place a message of conversation on the screen), and by moments of solitude when his presence became palpable. Now if the reader is expecting a story like the film 'Ghost', then this book is not for them. Instead this is a very personal telling of what happens when two people who have shared a profound love continue that support despite the one's physical absence. There are many very amusing passages, paragraphs of light writing that bring warm smiles of recognition of conversations with our own loved ones, and some very firm lessons about how to deal with unfinished business once one partner has entered the 'In Between'. Stephanie Riseley uses her professional training to write a book that leads us to understand phenomena perhaps not considered by us before. And like every fine teacher she makes her book accessible and entertaining and full of the joy of being truly alive. Grady Harp, July 10

unique channeling, good lessons for many of us,

This review is from: Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality (Paperback)
i was drawn to stephanie from across the room at a seminar on past lives. we met only very briefly, and i decided to buy her book. her channeling experience is quite unique, yet i do believe it happened as she says. i wonder, when sometimes her spirit guides tell her what she "should've done," whether her channeling was pure or if it was sometimes mixed with some of her own personal thoughts, since it is my belief that telling someone what they "should've done" is tantamount to making the person wrong in the past. my own experience with channeling, however, is minimal, so who am i to judge spirit guides, since i haven't spoken to mine? however, one thing the book did for me was make the possibility more real that i could hear from my spirit guides. her spirit guides also told her that her dyslexia was actually a symptom of a super flexible brain, and is what allowed her to channel so easily. i think dyslexia and other "disorders" are not disorders at all, and that actually made a lot of sense to me. [though i myself am not dyslexic.]i got a lot out of the book. one example would be the insight that "everyone else cares about themselves, and that's the way it should be." simple, and maybe those of us who like to think we are caring people don't want to hear it, but upon reflection it makes perfect sense to me. "only focus your energy where it is reciprocated" is another good one. common sense, but still, a nice reminder. i actually took notes while reading this book, as there was a lot of solid and practical advice in it. i would have been happier if it were 30 pages shorter, and/or abridged in places, as it got repetitive toward the end. however, the author was very honest with her story, making little effort to make sure she "looked good for the reader"--although it does seem like she's a really nice person--in favor of just telling the straight story, and i respect that. i found this book much more practical than some other famous channeled books, like the fascinating but abstruse "seth books." nice work, stephanie!

Fascinating, unique view of relationships from the other side,

This review is from: Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality (Paperback)
In LOVE FROM BOTH SIDES, Stephanie Riseley gives us an intense and sensitive portrait of what it was like for her to grieve the death of her husband and of all her hopes for their future, how she unexpectedly experienced him from the other side and how she was able to transcend her grief and gain new and releasing insight into their relationship. The personal nature of the observations on relationships Stephanie Risely channels from the other side makes this book unique among the channeled books I've read.

Ms Riseley has written this story with such clarity and precision that she has caused me to re-think the possibilities of what comes after. I was given this book to read, and I didn't want to. After the first chapter I could not put it down. Hypnotizing.

This book is so meaningful on so many levels - the intimacy of the emotions and reveal of private and yet shared feelings of loss and love and great sex and the celebration of one's life force - Although anyone greaving must read this it's a lesson for all us Western attitudes, on death and spirit. Loved it. Thank you.

This Can't Be,
By
This review is from: Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality (Paperback)
Reading Love From Both Sides takes you on quite journey. My mind kept saying, "this can't be." Slowly I let myself slip out of my mind and into my heart. I listened to the messages being sent to Stephanie and stopped worrying about how she received them. I needed to hear what those voices had to say and I am eternally grateful to Stephanie for her generousity in sharing them. Love, happiness and joy are possible right here in this life.
