Was I reading another book?,
By
This review is from: Love Is (Hardcover)
Amanda "Creole" Hawk was injured in an automobile accident- she has to remain sightless (her eyes are bandaged) and heal for six weeks so she can see again. She's 23 years old, spoiled, obnoxious and has gone through five caretakers in five days. Get the picture? Enter John Parker Rollin ,alias "Mr. Parker", who doesn't put up with anything and has her father's backing on this. Creole immediately wants him gone but it doesn't work out that way.
Their fathers have known each other since they were young and are best friends plus they work together. The "kids" saw each other briefly during their childhood. Creole was jealous and didn't like Johnnie. Apparently that feeling stayed with her into adulthood. Mind you, if Creole thought about it, I don't see how she could not like him anymore. Johnnie, "Mr. Parker", never did anything to her as a child; it all had to do with their fathers and their former wives, Creole's and Johnnie's mothers. Currently Johnnie is writing a thesis paper and he is observing Creole's sightlessness and writing down how she feels. Granted, this is a little underhanded but she is so cranky that I didn't mind him doing this. In the span of a few short weeks they fall in love even though she is still obnoxious and he hasn't told her who he is or what he is doing. Sorry, I just didn't feel the love was there or they were meant to be together. Save yourself some money. If you think the story is that great from what the other reviewers have told you, get it from the library. I can't recommend this book and would hate to see anyone waste their money.

A very fast read; only about 180 pages. It's about a southern bell who has an accident and falls in love with...well, I can't give the whole story away. It's a charming read. No hot and steemy scenes but very cute romance.

This book was extremely well written. It was a typical love story that you think you know what the outcome will be but it was written in such a superb manner that I could not put it down until I knew for certain. Cannot wait until the author's next book comes out!!!!

It's a keeper!,

This review is from: Love Is (Hardcover)
A reader from Davis, Oklahoma <Picture: 5 out of 5 stars> It's a keeper! I am the author's daughter--but I do read lots of romance novels. (Our local librarian makes a game out of trying to find one I haven't read.) This book does all that a five star book should. It gets your attention right from the start and keeps it until the last tear drop falls and then some. It made me laugh, made me cry and made me fall in love all over again. There aren't many books that I feel a need to own or to read a second time. However, I will be reading my signed copy many, many more times. It's a keeper-definitely. My favorite line-"walk slowly because I'd be along in a little while." Read it! You'll love it!

"Love Is" is just the beginning of Carolyn Brown's literary legacy with Avalon Books. "Love Is" is a wonderful romance and I highly recommend the rest of her romances and historical romances.

Love Is,

This is an incredible book. I enjoyed it as soon as I opened it and started reading it. When Mr. Parker, really John Rollin, is the one to take care of Creole, helps her to see and hear with her other senses instead of her eyes, while she is healing, we are confronted with two people that belong together. Ones that you want to get together when you read the end. An exceptional work of writing that Ms Brown has given us with this book. She makes us actually experience what Creole is going through with bandages and all. And thanks to John for not giving up on Creole when she is so stubborn from day one. I loved the bathroom scene and the perfume counter scene. Ms Brown has once again given us an outstanding love story. One that you will always carry in your heart. This deserves a ten stars plus, with two thumbs, and eight fingers standing tall. An excellent book read!!!!

I read the book in one evening. Once you start, you just can't put it down. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll remember what young love was, and you'll hope she writes a sequel about how they lived happily ever after.
