2.0 out of 5 stars brainless fluff, September 11, 2006
This review is from: Love Casts Out Fear (Camfield #41) (Paperback)
i read this book because, despite reviews that barbara was a bad author, i've been looking for clean romantic suspense authors and decided to give her a try.

since this book was short with huge print, i don't feel i wasted too much of my life, but it was definately not a real stimulating read. the girl was brainless with nothing to recommend her but her looks and fearful shyness. (and i mean this literally. i enjoy stories where there is a female in a traditional role, but this was way beyond that.)

at one point the 'hero' explained to her that there are different women in a man's life-mother, their sexual conquests who mean nothing to them but to give them happiness, and then the woman they want to marry. she says, regarding the disgarded flowers, aka the sexual conquests) "isn't that wrong?". he gives a weak response and with wide eyes she thanks him for explaining it to her. unbelievable.

the suspense was so overly dramatic and unplausible that there is no way that suspense could describe this book in anyway.

there was no real character building or scene creating. if you want a (VERY) light read and don't mind the heroine being valuable for her looks and neediness alone, you may get something from this book, if not, don't read it.
