Book Description

June 12, 2002
Elaine Lewis seemed to have the ideal life, with great friends and a busy social calendar. Most importantly, she had the perfect husband in Martin, a physician who loved her more than she could ever love herself. She was the envy of all her friends. But what they didn't know was that Elaine was hiding a painful secret from her past. The birth of Martin and Elaine's son, Stevie, forces Elaine to recall her past, and she refuses to find room for him in her heart.Stevie's birth drives a wedge between the once-happily married couple, throwing Elaine into a downward spiral of gambling, adultery and denial. Eventually she must face her past in order to try saving her future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Deeply Moving Story of Love and Forgiveness, January 7, 2009
This review is from: Love Changes (Paperback)
The author has an incredible gift for capturing the inner turmoil women experience when faced with heartbreak and personal challenges. I could not put LOVE CHANGES down. The other characters in the book, especially her husband Martin, were very well depicted. I still wish he really did exist. I truly enjoyed experiencing Elaine's world and learning how love did change her. Thank you Marsha Cook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Changes Reviewed, August 21, 2002

"left2design" (Lake Zurich, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Changes (Paperback)
Elaine Lewis is one of those main characters who is more antagonist than protagonist. From the very beginning of the book I hated her, but I so wanted to like her. While her husband Martin is her polar opposite, he was so likable that he almost deserved what Elaine gives him. And it is not in spite of these qualities, but exactly because of them that I truly enjoyed reading Marsha Cook's latest published work.

Love Changes asks a particularly difficult question, fortunately, most of us never have to face. The question of how we handle ourselves when our imagination of a perfect life and the reality of that life collide. For Elaine the collision occurred because her past, one she suppressed and hid, came back to haunt her in the form of her first born son.

I would recommend Love Changes for your vacation or entertainment reading lists. Marsha Cook doesn't preach a message, or try and tear your heart out, while Love Changes does evoke an emotional response it is one that I, as a reader, gladly accepted. Love Changes is an pleasant read, I give it a solid A.
