My new favorite band. I'm freaking out.,

I haven't been this impressed by a full length or debut in so long and at long last.
Cold Cave's influence clearly "ranges" from New Order musically to Ian Curtis / Peter Murphy vocally. Funny, Interpol always get the "Joy Division rip off" accusation and I always felt that those labeling have never truly listened to Joy Division if such is the case. Main singer Wes Eisold really does actually sound like Curtis on some notes but then crossed with Murphy and I don't know, if you ask me, that's God like. As for the music, it's fun, sexy, cold (which is sexy, yeah), makes you want to wear black, makes you want to dance, makes you remember the first time you heard a New Order record. All of these musical comparisons and associations are meant in very good ways. It sounds like an honest effort of tribute to great sounds and tones that while yes, we have heard before, but when done again and modernized, it's nearly enlightening. I hope we'll be hearing a lot more about these folks, they deserve it. I haven't enjoyed a new band or an album like this in years. It's perfect.

History repeats itself. Fashion repeats itself. Now, a unique sound of the 80's repeats itself with Cold Cave! I'm a 41 year old guy who spent my formidable years listening to New Order, Depeche Mode, The Cure and The Smiths. Cold Cave is a sound I've been waiting on for about 15 years. I'm SO glad to have the sound of my youth back! Folks are correct to compare them to New Order and Joy Division, but I'll go further and compare their darker songs to Assemblage 23, and their lighter ones to Depeche Mode. If you like any of the comparison bands mentioned in these reviews, you'll surely be impressed with Cold Cave. I can't wait to hear what they've got in store for us next. Thank you Cold Cave for making me feel like a teenager again!

Icy Sexy Cool,

I've never been into goth, so I was initially put off by the artwork and my preconceived notions of what I thought this would sound like. In reality, it's just a killer collection of songs that are exceptionally well-produced. The rhythms skitter across buzzing sheets of synth ice, and the vocals are more weird than they are pompously goth. This reminds me of New Order and the latest Handsome Furs album. "Life Magazine" and the almost garagey "Theme From Tomorrowland" are my faves.
