Ken and Hanna have just moved to a new town when Hanna becomes ill. When Ken rushes her to the hospital the news is far worse than he could have imagined - leukemia. His daughter had cancer and no one had known. When Ken's boyfriend calls while he's waiting in the E.R. you find out that Ken doesn't have the support he should. My opinion of Mark was not high to begin with and only got worse from there.
Enter the kind but silent Patrick. He is mute due to an injury that robbed him of all speech. But you quickly find that his heart doesn't need words to show Hanna and Ken what kind of man he really is.
The story takes you through Hanna's cancer diagnosis, treatments that seem to harm more than help, Ken's loss of hope, and Patrick's determination to be there for both of his neighbours.
If you have suffered cancer or other debilitating illness/injury, don't judge this book by the idea but by the work itself! The romance is sweet and powerful, the struggle is truthful and both heart-wrenching and heart-warming, and as the title say, love truly does come silently to those whose hearts are open to it.
Love Comes Silently is a true 5 drops story and earns my Award of Excellence for sweet passion and a true heart! Thank you for sharing this story with us, Andrew.

Andrew's writing was beautiful, the story was sweet and gentle, the characters deep and needy.
This one will tug at your heartstrings and you may go through a tissue or two.

A beautifully touching story ~Under the Covers
This is one of those sad but feel good stories about facing and overcoming adversities. I was almost in tears from the very beginning when we meet Hanna, Ken's daughter. She's been sick and now is diagnosed with cancer. They had just moved to a new town when this happens and after the first round of treatment, Ken's longtime boyfriend decides to dump him.
It was sad to see Hanna go through her stages of being a happy and active kid, and then revert to being sick. Ken was strong throughout this and the last thing on his mind might've been finding another boyfriend. Except a really good looking and sweet man lived down the street from them. And you couldn't help but notice the acts of kindness from him all the time.
But then he found out that Patrick couldn't speak. We don't know at first why but his story is also very sad but it shows his strength that he's still pushing through after everything that has happened to him.
Patrick is the perfect compliment to Ken AND Hanna. Together they make a beautiful family. It was incredibly sweet to see Ken show Patrick his acceptance and his love, a love that built with time and it wasn't rushed. A loved that felt true and it warmed my heart.
This was a beautifully touching story, and I wish I could read more like it.
Patrick knows what it is to love and lose everything; he was a singer with two albums and a bright future when a mad man with a gun ended his career if not his life. The bullet tore through his throat, taking his vocal cords so he can't make a sound any longer. He falls in love with the man and his young daughter, especially once the boyfriend cuts out on them when the diagnosis of cancer comes back when Ken's daughter Hanna gets sick.
The community pulls together in the spring when they are not sure if Hanna will make it to Halloween to give her a Halloween party complete with a handmade Ballerina Barbie costume, then at the end of her last set of treatments in the middle of summer they made sure she got to see the town decked out for Christmas with a party and a visit from Santa Claus. She was so weak; they wanted to make sure she had a Christmas to remember.
I fell in love with these characters from the beginning; all except Mark - the boyfriend - didn't like his attitude at all from the beginning. Everyone else captured my heart, including the family that fought so hard to keep Patrick with them when he lost everything; they are putting that same love and energy into trying to fulfill a young girl's dreams.Read more ›
