CD reissue of this 1979 album from the late Jazz trumpeter. Freddie Hubbard was one of the premier trumpet players in all of Jazz. He issued a wealth of albums from the 1960s until his passing at the end of 2008. Many of his albums have made the Billboard top LP chart, a rare occasion for a Jazz artist. Wounded Bird. 2009.

I orginally bought this LP back when it was first released, being a young trumpet player wanting to discover the jazz styles of the great Freddie Hubbard. I was already a Hubbard fan, but what struck me about me about this album were the incredibly unique and beautiful string arrangements by Claus Ogerman that are the framework and setting for most of what happens on this recording. The album also features the finest ever version of "Little Sunflower", featuring Al Jarreau on vocals.
Most of the album is very reflective and ethereal, but Ogerman's arrangemnts are the star here, transporting you to someplace you've not visited before if you've never heard him. Hubbard's mostly fluegelhorn solos are a perfect guide to this other world, and a perfect mesh with the arrangements.
I have been avidly, desparately looking for this recording to come out on CD forever, and now my wishes have been answered at last. This album influenced me so much musically I would just about pay any price for this pristine recording! This will be in short-list of most precious CD's I own.

I have been looking for this recording of Al Jarreau singing little sunflower for decades. Still have the lp somewhere. I agree this was one of Hubbard's best...but am I the only one that is looking the obscure but exceptional lp recording called "Touch" ? Another gem I have yet to uncover.

Stunning much underated playing from master trumpet/flugelhorn player Freddie Hubbard during his fusion years.wounded bird records are doing a great job re-releasing these master sessions as they did with Maynard Ferguson,Bill Chase,Don Ellis and now also due in november Doc Severinsen too. These recordings are essential listening and is pure trumpet playing heaven

This has been on my "Must have" List for years!!! With the passing of Mr Hubbard, One of the most distinct trumpet players of my time, This great Lp has been released on Cd. Love Connection came out around 1979 when a lot of jazz being played at that time seemed too sugar coated for my taste.

I own a MINT condition LP and back in the day started it off by playing side #2 first.Al Jarreau's vocals on "Little Sunflower" with a shot of
Old Granddad 100% proof wisky was all I needed to start the weekend right.
The rest of the songs with a cast consisting of Ernie Watts,Oscar Brasher,
and others, pop out some of the best sounding jazz from the lovely "Brigitte" to the tight licks of the title track by Freddie.

This is a must have first time limited release on Cd by one of the masters
of jazz.Every track is worth listening to in this all to brief offering from one of my jazz heroes, Freddie Hubbard. R.I.P

I would have to go on record as saying that this is one of Freddie's finest recordings. I'm so glad that it made its way to cd, finally. Even though I got it as an import, at least that's a start.
