Editorial Reviews

The Glitch Mob - the Los Angeles-based trio comprising Justin Boreta, Ed Ma, and Joshua Mayer - continues their forward movement into 2014. Boreta, edIT, and Ooah came together around 2006, passing through various members until settling on this core trio of musicians. Together, they combined their different skills and aesthetics into the compellingly collage whole that has become one of the most beloved live electronic acts, and distinctive recording artists, working today.

5.0 out of 5 stars New version of the old Glitch Mob February 12, 2014
By Mike S.
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
"If our last album was introverted, then the new one is definitely extroverted," Justin Boreta explains of one of 2014's most anticipated electronic-music albums.

This quote from the Amazon page for Love Death Immortality really is true. Drink the Sea is my favorite electronic album of all time. Front to back that album just blew me away. Needless to say I ordered Love Death Immortality yesterday and instantly played it through... and then I played it again and again. Overall the album is much more in-your-face, high energy as compared to Drink the Sea, which seemed to sway from low tempo to high energy over the course of the album.

My first impressions:

-The first single "Can't Kill Us" gives you a very good sample of what this album is like. Its very high energy, very uptempo.

-Both songs featuring Ara Volkman are amazeballs, crazy good. I love them and can see them being my personal most played by far. "Our Demons" could be the best song on the album. Classic pump-up in your face Glitch Mob. "I Need My Memories Back" sounds like a really good dance/party hit where I pick up a very Daft Punk-y vibe. Possibly influenced by their work on the Tron Legacy Remix with Derezzed?

-Even for the songs that I am less that enamored with I still find myself tapping along with and bobbing my head to.

-It is important to note that Drink the Sea really matured as an album over time. It went through multiple revisions and the Part II: The Mixtape really added new life and depth to the album.

Finally, I don't know if they actually read these reviews but ADD A CHICAGO TOUR DATE ALREADY!

Well The Glitch Mob has done it again. This CD is a MUST for any music lover of any genre. The sheer levels and quality behind this music is on a whole different level then anything else I've heard. I hope to see them floating around the festival scene this year.

Great job guys, I needed this in my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars great album February 17, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I was worried about getting this album because of a couple of the reviews. But.. after I bought it I found it is a great album. Glitch Mob has always been very percussive in my opinion, and this album carried that on as well as their signature sounds. Overall a great album. If you are not sure about buying it, their youtube channel has all of the songs on it for younto hear.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Glitch Mob Does It Again February 11, 2014
By Chance
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Ok, I've been a fan of The Glitch Mob for about 2 years now ever since I first heard Fortune Days & Animus Vox on Pandora, and I have listened to Drink The Sea & the We Can Make The World Stop EP I don't even know how many times. Since then, The Glitch Mob has been my all time favorite EDM act, possibly favorite music act of all genres. With 2 of the members of The Glitch Mob having left between the We Can Make The World Stop EP release and now, it was questionable if TGM were no more.

But thankfully, they have returned with this new album, Love Death Immortality, and WOW is it amazing. This is the first album in several years that I have actually anticipated the release of, I purchased it at midnight on release day, and listened to it immediately after download. I literally (and yes I mean literally, not like how everybody uses the word literally in a figurative sense,) had a huge grin across my face as I listened to the entire album. I enjoyed all the tracks, there wasn't a single one that I didn't like! (Although I did have some favorites,.

The Glitch Mob's sound has evolved since Drink The Sea, but in my opinion they are still just as amazing since they started 4 years ago. I HIGHLY recommend this album for anyone who is a fan of The Glitch Mob, glitch music, or fans of music that has something of an 'epic' feel to it.

Here's to the new album, and high hopes for the next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant February 11, 2014
By Stevie

Love Death Immortality is a powerful return to Drink the Sea. The album flows from song to song with sense of purpose. Picking up when it needs to and dropping where it sees fit. If you like to groove with your Electronica, you'll love these guys and this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible February 12, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A seriously epic album, each song brutal and punchy with the amazing soaring melodies you've come you expect. I recommend listening to it in totality, as the songs blend with one another to weave a beautifully complete experience. It's an element that, in my opinion, lacked from their previous effort 'Drink the Sea', and demonstrates the group's maturing tone. Fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Different than Drink the Sea February 11, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Drink the Sea, the first album by the Glitch Mob, was a very different sound than this. Drink the sea had a more outer-space, ambitious, and quiet kind of feel to it. The music felt reserve to itself, and refused to show its true promise. The only song that wasn't this way on the album, at least in my opinion, was We Can Make the World Stop.

Love, Death, Immortality is a much more upbeat, explosive, dance-worthy step forward. It does get pretty close to dubstep, but it retains enough of the glitch feel to keep its own identity. My personal favorites from the album are: Skullclub, Carry the Sun, and I Need My Memory Back. I've absolutely loved it, and I'm to even see them live for this.
