This has to be the best cd that Ruben has put out yet. His voice has never sounded better as he sings about love, romance, promise and hope. Yes he does covers here, but he does them quite well. From the cover of Extreme's "More Than Words", to Al Greene version of "For the Good Times", the Beatles " Long & Winding Road", Ruben takes these songs and masterfully wraps his silky vocals around them and make them his own.

The lead single "Together", Song For Her (written especially for his wife), and My Love Is a Rock are all very powerful songs that make you long to fall in love all over again, or at least hold on tightly to, or try to work it out with that special someone. These are not typical ballads they are all very different because with each one Ruben totally changes it up, with live instruments, brilliant producers and melodies that worked together to bring out the best in him

He then ventures into the infectious beats of the midtempo infused "How You Make Me Feel", & They Don't Make 'Em Like U No More" both songs are sure to be on constant repeat. How You Make Me Feel really reminds me of a Ne-Yo song, not that it sounds the same but a similiar thumping beat.
Finally in "Footprints in the Sand" Ruben sings about wanting to leave behind a legacy of having made a difference in this world, having left some imprint on someone's life and not just a memory that eventually fades away.

No this is not your typical R&B album, he includes his interpretations of music from different genres because that's what he felt we have been asking for. Those that love Ruben include fans that love all types of music, and this is what they finally wanted to hear from him. At least one cd where he is singing the type of music that they fell in love with him singing.

Will everyone love it--probably not, but for those of us that have yearned for Ruben to just wrap that beautiful voice around a few love songs then this one is for you.

So glad to see Ruben is back to the songs that demonstrate his singing and musical abilities. Also happy to see he is now helping to write his own songs. "Together," "How You Make Me Feel," "My Love Is A Rock," "We've Got Love (That's Enough)" and "Footprints In The Sand" are my favorites. I have always enjoyed hearing Ruben sing, and this album is yet another progression in his career. I saw him in "Ain't Misbehavin" when it came to Austin, and was glad to see him in person. I would love to see him do a tour. I'm looking forward to more albums. The touches of Jimmi Jam and Terry Lewis are quite evident.

I have loved Ruben from day one when he auditioned for American Idol.
I think this is by far his best CD yet. I love all of the songs so much but my favorites are More than Words, Song for her, It's your love and We got love (That's enough). Keep it up. You are the Best!!!

I constantly have to remind myself how old Ruben Studdard is. Although he's closer to my age, he's so old school with R&B, and there's nothing wrong with that. While there are many R&B artists who are borderline rapping, Studdard would rather rock a suit and give his listeners traditional romance from a man's perspective. His voice is beautiful. His style is crisp. He doesn't oversing the songs. And the lyrics seem fitting for him. I didn't click next through any songs, which is a big plus, and I'd recommend it.

I can't believe that it took these many albums for Ruben to release an album that fit his voice perfectly like this one. He is not trying to sing songs for a teen audience anymore, he has decided to sing more adult r&b themed songs like Luther vandross use too. And like Luther, this Ruben Studdard album would attract any r&b listener (Young and old). I would say that getting legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry lewis (New edition and Janet Jackson) to help produce most of the songs on the album helped him make the transition into a real r&b star. Ruben, keep Jam and Lewis for the next couple of albums and you will stick around in this music business for a long time. I just hope that this album didn't come too late for your fans because if you would have put out an album like this on your 2nd album- you would definitely had a huge anticipation to the following two records. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone who likes, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, etc. My favorite songs on this album are the first single "Together", which should be a top 10 single (R&b,Adult contemp charts), "Song for her", "How you make me feel"- a cool young sounding song, ="Don't make em like U" - My favorite song on album by far = Makes you realize what a great artist Ruben can be, "My love is a Rock"= My 3rd fav song on album and just another great song that showcases Ruben. I give this album 4/5 only because I wish he had more originals than covers.

Great album from beginning to end, my favorite from the album is Just Because, this record sums it up for me, that Ruben definitely has what it takes to stay in this music business. People do not sleep on this album.

This CD is what the R&B game needed! This is gotta be one of the hottest R&B CDs out now.
The remakes are off the meat rack... From Al Green to Extreme to the Beatles.. not a lot of singers can pull that off. But, Ruben is the man. I think they slept on his last CD, personally...
Keep doin' yo' thing, man... Rep that real R&B!!!

This album by Ruben Studdard is excellent. He sings with that smooth and sultry style that helps a body relax. I really enjoy this music.

Now this is more like it! Finally Rueben has found his niche!

After his victory on American idol, I was anxiously waiting for Rueben's debut album to drop. I just knew it was going to be da bomb. man was I disappointed! Except for "Sorry 2004" and maybe two other tracks, this CD did not live up to the hype. I was a little skeptical when I first ordered the album, but after playing it for the first time, this CD "Love Is" is what we've been waiting for from Mr. Rueben Studdard. Now I can't stop playing it. Even though I'm not a big fan of cover songs, I must say, he did an excellent job on "For The Good Times"(Al Green) and "I Can't Help It" by "The King of Pop", MJ.....Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson.

I have always enjoyed Ruben's work and believe he's a wonderful talent. This CD is, in my opinion, one of his best works so far. It shows the range in his voice and how much he has grown as an artist. For those who enjoy smoothe sounds, this is for you. Just wish they would play him more on the radio so others can hear this how good he really is.
