DVD sold separately; I loved this Study Guide too

Love Does, subtitled “Discover A Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World,” is based on Bob Goff’s New York Times best-selling book, Love Does.
“Living a life fully engaged and full of whimsy and the kind of things that love does is something most people plan to do, but along the way they just kind of forget. Their dreams become one of those ‘we’ll go there next time’ … The sad thing is, for many there is no ‘next time’… love is never stationary. In the end, love doesn’t just keep thinking about it or keep planning for it. Simply put: love does.”
This DVD, and the sold-separately study guide, features five 10-12 minute video sessions with Bob Goff, and the content in the guide will lead you and your group through session-by-session discussion topics and encourage individual reflection between sessions. We enjoyed both.
Each session begins with an engaging “Introduction” found in the study guide. The “Welcome and Checking In” provides questions to further introduce the session topic and can help increase communication among small group members. “Hearing The Word” includes a Scripture passage and a couple reflection questions. “Watch The Video” is followed by “Group Discussion” including First Impressions and Community Reflections (which can be used with or without a small group). The next section emphasizing application entitled “Putting Love Into Action” is clearly the essence of “Love Does.
Here are a couple highlights.
I’m with You – “Love is not just a bunch of stuff we agree with. Love does.” On the other hand, God’s love is not expecting us to always be busy or give up all our fun, but quitting stuff can be a really freeing thing when we “quit the right stuff.”
Free to Fail – God’s grace offers, and Love Does reminds us, “We are no longer defined by our failures. We are defined by Christ.”
Audacious Love – “Are we missing that the God of the universe is nuts about us?”
Be Not Afraid – Too often we are caught in the trap of fear. “Be not afraid” is a phrase repeated by God to people who need to lean on God and God’s power. Take risks for and with God.
Follow Me – Jesus invites us, “Follow me.” Too often we hear the invitation and see Jesus waving us over and simply stay at a distance waving, “Hi!”
Bob Goff is friendly engaging, enthusiastic – some might find him a little too chipper – but he’s insightful and a wonderful storyteller.
I wholeheartedly recommend this DVD and Study Guide for small group and personal use.
