This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
Love Don't Come Easy is the sexual coming of age story of Eric Brown, Jr. The book begins with Eric's first love and takes us throughout his different relationships and romantic liaisons to show how different women impact his life and affect his views and perspectives on love.

As an adult, Eric has what most people would call a perfect life. He makes a good living as a male nurse, has a nice luxury condominium, a brand new car, and loving, supportive friends and family. However, he lacks what he most desires-a meaningful relationship. To make matters worse, he has found and fallen in love with his soul mate-his best friend's wife. Drawing upon all his lessons in love, he must make the ultimate decision-a lifelong happiness with the love of his life, or saving the relationship he has had with his best friend.

Alex Hairston has written a beautiful novel that shows how relationships that begin as young as our teenage years are influential in shaping who we are. Eric's story is engrossing, at times erotic, and is reminiscent of first love and true love. This novel is a quick, ntertaining read that is both poetic and erotic. I eagerly anticipate future works from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, April 24, 2003
By
This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
Extraordinary, amazing, funny, realistic, touching and by far the best novel ever published. The author focuses on one main character, Eric, but uses other characters that help him experience, grow and learn about the hard lessons of life and love. Eric has to continually find a balance between who and what he loves the most and doing the right thing. At the end, the different phases of life and experiences has allowed him to become the man he ultimately wants and knows he can be.

This novel touches you in some many ways. From the very realistic life experiences to the very visual scenes you are transformed to visualize in your mind. I loved the oh so very enticing moments the book had as well as the very descriptive words used by the characters. The characters were so real life to me that sometimes I put myself in the novel and somehow experienced what was going on.

Mr. Alex Hairston is commended for his excellent novel because
he is truly an author that is nothing less than amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full Circle, June 28, 2003
This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
Eric symbolizes both male and female characteristics. He learns, he loves, he lets go, and he lives. Through experiencing life he meets the women who molded him: Monica, Stacey, Candie. Eric reached a turning point, that's what all of us aspire to do. Whether good or bad, a decision is made. A line is crossed or the circle of deciet continues. Eric got out of the circle and embraced life. Marvelous Alex, can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK TO READ!, May 6, 2003

This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
I will use one word to describe Alex Hairston's Love Don't Come Easy: REAL. From the beginning to the end, this book was well written it left me with a smirk on my face from page to page. It's hard to believe this is Alex's first novel, I can't wait until the next book is published. This book took me back to the days when love was new and exciting. Each page of Eric's life makes you want to continue well after the story has ended...how about a sequel? This is one that you won't be able to put down. A well written fiction. Alex, we are waiting for #2!

This was a very good read! So much drama yet very entertaining. I loved it from the beginning to the end. I have to admit that the end was shocking but that made the book more interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Don't Come Easy by Alex Hairston, November 10, 2004
This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
Love don't come easy by Alex Hairston is the book that all readers should go out and buy. This story has a lot of unique qualities and it was tastefully written . The story is based on a young man named Eric who was raised by two successful parents. Eric's not your average teenager. He is far from been perfect but he is conscious and confident who has a good understanding of life. As Eric takes you on his journey you would find yourself been proud of him, laughing with him and getting mad at him. Through each character Mr. Hairston expressed black pride, the qualities of black families, importance of education, self respect, true love, survival, the power of sexuality and the acknowledgment of God. Each characters of this book are truly unforgettable. Love don't come easy is my #1 favorite novel and once you read it I am sure it will be your favorite book too.

That is as far as I could get. You know the saying...."Don't judge a book by it's cover."? Take that advise!!! I am this far in the book and nothing that caught my attention from the books excerpt has happened yet. This book is well written, but I was totally expecting something else. This is a great book for 21 and under. Or if you want to reflect in your high school days. Even then, not every girl I met in high school feel in love with me.

(...) I am just disappointed of the turn out. I am not a quiter, so I am just putting it aside and hopefully I will get the urge to finish it by the end of summer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Awful!, April 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Love Don't Come Easy (Paperback)
I must not fit the demographic profile for this book (40 year old female). Maybe this book is meant for the teenager to 20ish crowd. I am almost finshed thankfully. It's not that I like the book, but I have to finish what I start no matter how bad. The story line is really good but the writing seems almost elementary school level. I hope as "Eric" ages, the writing matures. I have to say that this is one of the worst books I have ever read! Whew!!!
