This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
Love Each Day- Live Each Day so You Would Want to Live it Again by Gail Bernice Holland is a very inspirational book. Right from the beginning the author asks if you would want to live each and every day over again. If there are too many days of "no's" in a row, something in your life should change.

It shares stories from different perspectives written by the author. She did an exceptional job showing how things that happen could affect a person negatively or show something wonderful about a person`s character. A lot of what happens throughout our day, can be looked at as something positive with learning or as something negative that happened to you.

I highly recommend this book to each and every person so they, too, will think about their lives without living a "blur" of a life. The book will remind you that life is short, live each moment and make the most of it. Change your attitude to become more laid back and accepting of what life throws you. If you are a negative person, it is time to change and you will find that life really is wonderful and precious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have More Good Days, November 6, 2009
By
Carolyn (SF Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
"Love Each Day: Live each day so you would want to live it again" is refreshingly realistic. If you are looking for pop-psych or gee-whiz inspiration, you won't find it here. What you will find instead are short reflections by real people of all ages and descriptions, telling us about a day that they would like to live again.

Ms. Holland asked her subjects to avoid the day-I-got-married, day-I-won-my-Olympic-medal examples that focus on obvious highs. As a result, she brings to us a book based on the kinds of special and satisfying days we all have sometimes--a day when a personal goal is achieved, or we are re-awakened to a special wonder, or we make a connection with someone else in an enriching way.

I, at least, found that in dipping into the good days of people like and unlike myself, I re-connected somewhere in the back of my mind with my own good, enriching and satisfying experiences. In that way, perhaps, I experienced a bit of a gee-whiz buzz after all. In any case, it is a book one can read for awhile, put down, pick up, and keep by the bedside for a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love Your Life, October 29, 2011

Description: (From book jacket)

"Are We Happy Yet?

We are used to psychologists, psychiatrists, and other "experts" offering advice about how to be happy and how to live a fulfilling life. Even though the books by these experts can be helpful, sometimes the best way to learn about life is from true stories. Although Love Each Day doesn't specifically tell people how to live a wonderful life, the authentic true stories nevertheless offer timeless lessons about enjoying life. The tapestry of true stories in our lives will always be invaluable. From these stories we not only learn how people from different walks of life live, but also what is important to these individuals. Ultimately, this book inspires readers to spend time treasuring what really matters."

Review:

Being a recent college graduate, I liked the approach Love Each Day took to defining a meaningful life, and how each day, or better yet, each action can open new doors and create new opportunities. I agree that life is meant to be lived and experienced, not just muddled through, and these short stories of personal experiences reaffirmed it for me. I only wish there had been a more diverse set of stories considering the collection's short length. In the end attitude is one of the keys to having a fulfilled and meaningful (to the individual) life. Overall a good read; and recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love Each Day book review, August 16, 2011
This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
Love Each Day written by Gail Bernice Holland is a quick and easy read that contains 40 inspirational stories from people from all walks of life and experience who share with Gail the one day that they would choose to live again. i received this book to read and review and i am glad that i did as i like the concept of this book very much. the stories are short and easy to read and leaves one to ponder what day that they would live again. this book also inspires the reader treasure the things in life (each day) that matter the most.

i felt that some of the stories were a bit choppy and rushed but this may be a personal style issue. i would recommend the book to others based on its concept and the impact that it had on myself. overall i enjoyed reading this book because it made me think. i did walk away from it feeling that it is vital to focus on what is most important in life for myself rather than some idea of happiness held by society or my assumptions about those ideas. joy is found in the simple things and in treasuring those things that bring you to that joy. i am pleased with this collection of stories from so many people who took that time to consider the day that they would live again and felt enough about this to share it in this way.

4.0 out of 5 stars A ray of hope., February 10, 2010

This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
"Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again" by Gail Bernice Holland is a great collection of short stories each told from the perspective of a different person. In each story, the main character examines a great day they had and what made that day great. The stories are not just about people living on easy street, they are working individuals that could very easily be your neighbor.

I enjoyed reading this book. It made me take a look at my life and how I reacted to negative things that happen. Holland relates that how we perceive things has a great impact on how our day will go. If we look at problems with a positive attitude, we will have a much better day. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspiration for Everyone, February 5, 2010
By
This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
"Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again" was a really good book. Ms. Gail Holland found a way to make the good come out in the 40 short stories she wrote. It didn't matter if they were policeman or a bus driver with the amount of people she wrote about it covered all walks of life.

What it did highlight is 90 percent of your day will depend on how you react to something. Instead of getting upset or saying it's not worth it, take the chance, make the drive, or eat the cake. It may end up being the day you'll want to re-live down the road.

This book is a travel piece that can go anywhere with you. You can pick it up and put it down since the stories are short. Everyone has a day they want to re-live, life would be sad if you didn't and there is too much hope in the world. So, if you need a taste of inspiration then you'll get it from this book. You'll be glad you picked up this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring, February 5, 2010
By
This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading Love Each Day - these types of book always make me really reflect on my life and how I take each day for granted.

Love Each Day challenges you to look at your life as it currently is - or rather as you currently view it and ask yourself "is this what I want to live?" if the answer is "no" then you need to take a look at the way you look at your life.

The author does a good job of showing you how looking at something in a positive way can turn your view and your emotions around completely and how viewing everything in a negative reflects on your entirety and your overall life views.

I find it a challenge to view things in a positive turn - I tend to view things more negatively - regardless of what it is and sometimes I believe that I actually bring on my own bad luck (self fulfilling prohecy!).

This book is well written and accomplishes everything it sets out to do - makes you take a look at your life and hopefully, will make you want to make the changes you need to do for a better life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational!, February 4, 2010
This review is from: Love Each Day: Live Each Day So You Would Want to Live it Again (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading Love Each Day: Live Each Day so You Would Want to Live it Again by Gail Bernice Holland. Ms. Holland wrote the entire book through the eyes of different people. For instance, one short story is on a bus driver that enjoys her job and the children that ride her bus. On one particular day a fight erupts with two teenage boys. It is up to the bus driver to handle the situation. You will learn how one's perspective shows what he or she takes when a bad situation takes place. The person could think and feel, "Oh poor me. Why did that have to happen to me?" On the other hand the person could feel that he or she learned something from it, found out they are a much stronger person than they thought along with other positive aspects.

The author takes you on a journey with other situations that happen to a comedian, a professional baseball player, police officer, lawyer and more. With forty truly inspirational stories you are sure to find yourself in one or more of these short stories. After reading this book you will want to change your life for the better.
