When I read the review regarding the problems associated with the three recently released double CD's I was concerned because I had also purchased them. Since I had encountered no problems I decided to try them in a variety of players that accept CD's. The first trial was in the basic CD player in my car where they all played perfectly and with the same sound quality I normally get. Next was my computer which has upgraded speakers designed for gaming. Once again there were no problems and the surround sound quality was excellent. The third trial was a portable player which played them all with good sound. I then played them again successfully on my higher quality sound system and could detect no sound problems. I hope the negative review does not deter people from buying these long awaited releases which I feel are worth their cost.

I have all of the 2 for 1 CDs. All three CDs play perfectly and the sound quality is good. Some of us need to recognize that many CD players more than 5 years old can be problematic when playing more recent CDs. CD production technology is evolving and things like anti-pirate codes can challenge older CD players.

For Engelbert fans who have waited decades for these released on CD, you will be disapointed. I received three releases of the 2 on 1 recordings from the 70s. Two CDs would not play at all including this one. The CDs are thinner than the normal CD and none of my three players (2 DVD and 1 CD) would recognize the discs. The third disc would play only eight tracks of the 22. Those eight tracks were obviously mastered from old LP tracks. The clicks and pops could be heard although you could tell as computer noise reduction program had been used to remaster the recordings. You could still hear the muffled noises. There were 5 to 9 DB variations from one track to another. None of these products are worth the investment....in my opinion. This is if you have the old LPS, which still sound better. If you do not and would rather have the product on CD, even with reduced quality, you may want to spend the money.
