If you've ever loved this album, the upgrade is well worth it, one of the few upgrades of this type that really delivers. If you've never heard it, this is an incredible introductory set to the Cult.
And thus we get "Love Expanded Edition". So obviously, as a consumer and record buyer I'm not too crazy about the opportunistic, blood sucking move from Beggars, but as a Cult diehard, this is a total treat and I can't help but salivate and drool all over it! It comes down to this: if you, like me, are a Cult fan who couldn't get a hold of the boxset, this is a must, period. You need to get this now.
In my humble opinion, "Love" is THE quintessential Cult album. If I were ever forced to choose one and only one album from The Cult to include in my solar powered coconut MP3 player in a desert island, this would be it. Sure, they went on to become rich and famous with other releases (namely "Electric" and "Sonic Temple"), but this, my friends, is The Cult at their most unique and their most inspired.Read more ›
For fans of Zeppelin and other "Classic Rock" this is recommended.
Also, being able to listen to the Singles and Demos cds with amazing rare tracks is pure delight, and so is the 1985 concert at the Hammersmith arena where it's possible to feel all the excitement and freshness of this music. Now 25 years after, it's a real 'blast from the past', as Ian puts it when introducing Christians.
The concept behind the box is just perfect, and the mini vinyl replicas are more than adequate. I couldn't have asked for more. This is the Cult at its most adventurous and unique.
I'd say this is the eternal reward for all of us who've waited so patiently for this treasure to be unearthed and released. Love obviously very soon everybody at long last!
Luckily this set does not suffer from the same terminal problem. It's not an audiophile mastering, but it is a good mastering. There is enough dynamic range so that the music has some punch to it. The drums hits do make an impact, unlike say Beyond Good and Evil where the drums make no impact whatsoever and the distortion is brutal. The bass too sound nice and full on this release, unlike the the last two releases. All in all, the guy at Loud Mastering did a good job (maybe they should rename the mastering house 'not too Loud Mastering).
The packaging is fantastic, I don't think Beggars cut any corners on this one.
So if you're a cult fan, get this before its OPP.

This is a fun up beat album in their early days. Good for long drives and wanting to keep you awake and tapping and beating to the drum and playing air drum AND guitar.Published 3 months ago by Weeslocox5
It's been said before, but this is how the album should have originally been released. For true Cult fans, it's a no brainer, but it right now.Published 6 months ago by FBJ
