Tossing Pebbles,
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
Professor Claire is trying to rebuild her life following her husband's death. For her son's sake, she's trying to hold everything together. She's perfectly happy without a relationship. Enter Dr. Stephen Reyes. As a relationship grows, Claire's son Graeme will have to adjust.
One of Gwen's strengths was painting the love story Claire had already lived--that of her relationship with her late husband Rob. The author realistically portrayed Claire's past and her reasons for resisting a relationship. I also appreciated the relationship Stephen had with his neighbors, who acted like parental figures--watching out for him, etc. And what is a Romeo story without some pebbles tossed against the window?? This was a well-written romance which will delight the romantic of heart. Bravo Gwen and Summerside Press!

A Genuinely Good Reading Experience,
By
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
Though, as a male, I would normally not choose to read a book with the title of Love Finds You in Romeo Colorado, I did choose to read it and enjoyed it tremendously. Gwen has a gifted ability to describe a place, person or circumstance in a manner such that one's mind generates a video of them. The human interactions described in the book are done so in a way that makes each person real to the reader. I recommend this book for all who desire a tremendous reading experience!

I found more than Love in Romeo!,

This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
As I read Gwen's book, I found myself feeling the wonderful spirit of the Lord around me. I have never felt that feeling while reading a book (other than the Bible) before. This book gave me new drive to feed His sheep. It even left me questioning how I could include God in more of my daily walk. I enjoyed both the romance and the Christian spirit through out the book. I can't wait for the next book from this young promising author!

Great new book from great new author!,
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
You know you love a book when you can't put it down until you are finished! Such was my experience with this novel. It is hard to believe this is Mrs. Faulkenberry's first--I think we are in for many years of great "reads" from her pen. She knew how to make the lives of her characters believable with the inevitable mix of good and bad that comes with life. Her ability to intertwine faith, humor, tragedy and love is both refreshing and encouraging. I ordered this book as Christmas gifts for many of my friends and family. Don't miss out on this literary treat!

Finding a New Love,
By Irene B. Brand "Irene Brand" (West Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
How can a broken heart be mended and a new love begin?
Gwen Faulkenberry, newcomer to the Christian fiction market, ably addresses this subject in the book, Love Finds You in ROMEO, Colorado, a December issue of Summerside Press. After the untimely death of her husband, Claire Caspian returns to her roots in the tiny town of Romeo. She slowly creates a life for herself and her son, Graeme, with the encouragement of her grandmother. Her friendship with Dr. Stephen Reyes is welcome until Claire senses that the friendship is developing into love. She tries to halt her emotional awakening, believing that she's unfaithful to the memory of her husband. The story takes many unexpected turns before Claire knows the right decision to make for herself and her son. Ms. Faulkenberry has a gift for bringing the cares and lives of small town America into focus. She has provided a terrific read, which will make you laugh, cry and open your heart to love.

Christian Romance Soars,
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
Christian romance at its best - Gwen Ford Faulkenberry released her first novel and is off to a great start. I am excited to see what the future holds for this bright young author. In her addition of the "Love Finds You" series, she sets up a love connection in Romeo Colorado. Neither Claire, nor Stephen is looking for a partner when their paths cross. But, the chemistry is stirred as they both slowly try to let go of past pains to pursue future gains. The author does a wonderful job of developing these characters as she gives them the opportunity to grow closer together as well as restore their faith in God. Claire's faith has been shaken up from a "happily ever after dream" being shattered when her husband was taken from her and her son by a horrible disease. Stephen's workaholic past is scarred by a broken marriage where he feels mostly responsible for not giving enough of himself at home and too much at work. This is a well written romance - I highly recommend it.

Great potential, but fell flat overall,
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
The story was interesting but the inner workings of the characters and the emotional play between characters fell very flat. "Flat affect" comes to mind in describing it. It seemed to improve about halfway through, but then it lost momentum and fell flat again at the end. Not a book I would care to read again. :-(

Romance,
This review is from: Love Finds You in Romeo, Colorado (Love Finds You, Book 4) (Paperback)
I liked this book. Gwen Falulkenberry writes with a vision of Southern Colorado that can't be beat. She is good at drawing her readers into the story and including them. There are many many sides to Colorado and she shares one. We are full of mountains, streams, plains, deserts, sand dunes and prairies.
The main character,Claire, has recently lost her husband and moves back from Arkansas to Southern Colorado where she re-embraces the culture of the region. She is often haunted by memories as she struggles to make a new life with her young son. Along the way, she meets a handsome doctor who has been drawn to the country life. Dr. Stephen Reyes is also making a new start and they eventually meet up with hungry hearts for the Lord to work in their lives. Claire lives with her Abuelita, grandmother, who is entertaining, loving, and enjoys keeping the old ways of her life. Ms. Falulkenberry draws upon the culture of this southern Colorado region for a large part of her story and the reader may enjoy it. I enjoyed this book for the most part, but was disappointed in the ending. Paulette Harris Published Author/Speaker[...]
