4.0 out of 5 stars Great find, even for non-vampire freaks. March 28, 2012
By Leslie
Format:Paperback
I truly enjoy vampire movies, books, etc, so naturally, while at a Halloween event last year, I picked this up while looking through the gift shop. I consider myself a proficient enough of a cook that I can mostly read recipes and tell how much thought is poured into them and how well they may turn out. I must say that many of the recipes in the book looked delicious and above and beyond the typical every day type meal. Needless to say, I bought it.

Since then, we've tried 3 recipes from it and have not yet been disappointed. Our first was the Luscious Lobster Risotto, next was Akasha's Chicken Parmesan, and lastly we tried Claudia's Corned Beef and Cabbage (for St. Patrick's Day of course).

The book has a wide variety of recipes which are broken down into the following:
Bits and Bites (appetizers), Suckulent Soups & Stews, Salacious Salads, Seductive Sandwiches, Sinful Seafood, Petrified Poultry, Murderous Meats, "Organ"ick Foods (recipes made from other body parts, ie. tongue, liver), Bloodless Buffet (vegetarian), Nocturnal Nibbles (sweets), Liquid Lunches (libations), and a section called Party Themes that suggests several menus.

Overall, the book includes just over 300 recipes intertwined with tidbits and trivial information regarding vampire movies, shows, etc. Very fun, very tasty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for interactive reading with your kids! January 25, 2012
By Shane
Format:Paperback
This is the only bed time book our 7 year old ever wants to read together at night. It's a comic book style book with Rico and Kowalski and all the kids favorites from the Madagascar movies. The reason the kid loves it is mom reads the story part and he reads the parts where the penguins talk. He has yet to grow tired of the story. He loves doing the voices of the individual penguins when it's their speaking part. The thing that makes this book great is that apparently there is a corresponding story on one of the Penguins of Madagascar movies, (not sure which one, maybe "Operation:Blowhole,") so he knows in advance what the dialog is, which helps him read and understand the story. The reason I think this book is great is that kids will really love reading WITH their parents, and the interactions you'll have will be fun! It's not too terribly long, either, for a bed time story. Highly recommended!!
